Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Spread Info, Line and Predictions

Eric BowmanDec 15, 2011

The Green Bay Packers look to remain undefeated this weekend when they battle the struggling Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Injuries have crushed the Chiefs' season, but when healthy they showed signs of being a great team. The talent is there, so don't sleep on this team in the future.

Since Todd Haley was recently fired, interim head coach Romeo Crennel will have his hands full trying to take down the mighty Packers.

Kyle Orton is expected to start, but if he's not healthy enough Ricky Stanzi will get the start, according to Crennel

In the last six games, Green Bay is averaging 39 points and Kansas City is only averaging 7.5, which is a good indication of how this game should go come Sunday.

With that said, let's take a look at some specifics of this Week 15 showdown.

When: Sunday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. ET

Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Miss.

Watch: FOX

Spread

The Packers are favored at -14, which is a fair line. They're a much better team than the Chiefs, and they will have no trouble covering.

As mentioned before, the Chiefs are having a very hard time putting points on the board, which just so happens to be something Green Bay excels at.

Over/Under

The over/under is set at 46, and it will definitely be going over. The Chiefs will muster up a few scores, but the Packers are going to find the end zone early and often.

Key Injuries

Green Bay:

WR Greg Jennings (knee): Out

RB James Starks (knee, ankle): Questionable

LB Desmond Bishop (calf): Questionable

Kansas City:

QB Kyle Orton (right finger): Questionable

DB Jon McGraw (ankle): Questionable

Fantasy Big Plays

Aaron Rodgers is a must start, as always. The Chiefs have the 10th-best pass defense in the NFL, but it won't be enough to limit Rodgers' production.

The top candidate for NFL MVP, Rodgers has thrown two or more touchdown passes in every game this year, and that trend will continue in Week 15.

Other great starts for Sunday's game are Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finely, and I also like James Jones as a sleeper start.

With Greg Jennings out of the lineup, James will be called upon to step up, and he'll make some solid plays to help Green Bay get the victory.

As for the Chiefs, I don't really like any of them to start. Dwayne Bowe is the only one worthy, and if you have no other choices you have to start him, but I see him struggling without a good quarterback.

Bowe hasn't caught a touchdown pass since Week 5, and even though the Packers' weakness is their secondary, without a reliable quarterback, Bowe isn't a safe play.

Keys to Green Bay Win

The Packers don't need to change anything. They're on fire right now, and the Chiefs are going to have a hard time slowing down such a potent offense.

The pass defense needs to step up and shut down Bowe, but the defensive front should be able to get after the quarterback with ease.

As always, mistake-free football is a key to success, and the Packers have been doing a pretty good job of doing that.

Keys to Kansas City Win

The Chiefs have to find a way to frustrate Rodgers. If they can throw him off his game it will allow the Chiefs to stay competitive.

Turning the ball over has been a problem for Kansas City this season, so whoever ends up starting at QB can't afford to make any errors.

Spreading the ball around through the air is the best way to take down the Packers, so expect a few shots downfield from the Chiefs, and who knows, they might just get lucky enough to make some big scores.

Prediction

This won't be much of a contest on Sunday because these teams are polar opposites. The Packers are riding high and the Chiefs continue to slump toward the bottom of the league.

In the end, Rodgers will be too much for them to handle, leading the Packers to keep fighting for perfection.
