WWE: Air Boom vs. Hunico and Epico Is the Perfect Feud for Evan Bourne's Return

Drake OzDec 16, 2011

You probably wouldn’t know it by watching Monday Night Raw or Friday Night Smackdown, but Evan Bourne’s Wellness-related suspension has actually been up for a while now.

Bourne’s lone TV appearance since his return came on Raw a couple of weeks ago, and it appears as if his suspension has caused both he and Kofi Kingston to get de-pushed. That’s a shame because Air Boom is a fun team to watch, and it is still one of the few legitimate tag teams in the WWE.

I have no idea how bad Bourne’s backstage heat is, but judging by the lack of TV appearances for both he and Kingston, it appears as if Bourne is definitely in the doghouse.

Like most superstars who find themselves in hot water, however, I think it’s just a matter of time before Bourne and Kingston get back on Raw and Smackdown with another feud for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

And when they do, they have a perfect team to feud with: Hunico and Epico (oh, and Primo, too).

SPOILER WARNING: Now, if you like to be surprised, stop reading, because the next sentence contains a minor spoiler from tonight’s episode of Smackdown.

At Tuesday’s Smackdown tapings, Epico and Primo defeated the Usos in tag team action after Rosa Mendes distracted one of the Usos while he was on the top rope.

Surprise, surprise—we actually got an appearance on Smackdown from what looks to be a new stable, consisting of Primo, Epico, Hunico and Rosa Mendes.

Now, it doesn’t actually matter what combination of these three stars we get—it could be Epico and Primo or Primo and Hunico, etc.—but given that they form the only legitimate heel tag team in the WWE, it only makes sense that they would get some wins over the Usos and then go after Air Boom and the WWE tag team titles.

After all, Kingston and Hunico seemed to have a mini-feud during the build to Survivor Series, as they crossed paths numerous times leading up to the pay-per-view (they faced each other in tag team action on Raw and in singles action on Smackdown).

Naturally, the WWE hasn’t really followed up with that—only having Epico and Primo face Air Boom on the hardly-watched Superstars this week—but in a tag team division that basically consists of three teams, Kingston and Bourne have to feud with someone. That’s where Epico, Hunico and Primo come in.

For real. Not just on a show that no one watches.

This stable could actually be pretty solid if booked right, and if I was on the creative team, I would start a storyline where the trio is able to use any two superstars in their matches. Given that they’re heels, it would get them some heat for having an unfair advantage with three members of a tag team as opposed to the normal two.

Plus, what do you have to lose by throwing Air Boom in a title feud against Primo, Hunico and Epico?

Kingston and Bourne have to feud with somebody at some point, and even though they’re not getting much TV time at the moment, there will come a time when they have to put the WWE Tag Team Championship on the line.

I fully expected a feud between Air Boom and Hunico, Epico and Primo—gosh, they really need a name for their stable—to start a couple of weeks ago and lead to a match at WWE TLC, but that obviously didn’t happen.

I still think it’s just a matter of time, though.

Even if the creative team doesn’t want to push Air Boom right now, it can still put them on TV and have them drop the titles to Hunico’s trio. After all, I doubt it has anything better in mind.
