Week 15 Start Em Sit Em: BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Others You Should Bench

Zach KruseDec 15, 2011

In Week 15 of the NFL season, the following players might be better suited for your fantasy bench:

Michael Vick, Eagles

Vick threw for just 208 yards and a score against the Dolphins in his first game back. While those aren't terrible throwing numbers for Vick, he only ran twice for nine yards. Vick has said he wants to cut down significantly on running the football. Without those big chunks in scramble mode, Vick's fantasy value drops considerably, especially against the Jets third-ranked defense against opposing quarterbacks.

Rashard Mendenhall, Steelers

Mendenhall faces the 49ers defense on Monday night. Enough said. San Francisco hasn't given up 100 yards or a rushing touchdown against an opposing running back this season.

BenJarvus Green-Eliis, Patriots

You just don't know what you're going to get from the Law Firm on any given week. Is there the possibility of getting 20 carries and a 100 yards? Sure. But there's the same possibility that he'll see under 10 carries like he has in consecutive weeks. It's hard to take that gamble in the crunch time of the fantasy playoffs.

Jackie Battle, Chiefs

If the Chiefs stay in the game on Sunday, Battle could see some yards against a Packers defense that has struggled at times stopping the run. However, who really sees the Chiefs keeping the game close? Once the Packers get up, the runs stop. Battle's fantasy value drops off the face of the earth from there.

Mike Wallace, Steelers

The Steelers will need to pass it plenty against the 49ers on Monday, but who is going to be under center for Pittsburgh? There's pessimism that Ben Roethlisberger will be ready to start. I won't doubt Big Ben after the gutsy performance he had last Thursday, but how effective will he be? That could limit Wallace's ceiling.

Deion Branch, Patriots

Branch was shut out last week against the Redskins and suffered a groin injury in the process. He's questionable for Sunday against the Broncos. Even if he's a go, there's reason to think his targets will be few and far between.
