Tim Tebow Mania: How the Biggest Sports Stories Tie into Tebow

Dustin HullDec 15, 2011

We have all seen it. It's everywhere you look. Tim Tebow mania has taken off to new levels, having left the atmosphere long ago.

It seems like everything on sports talk shows and and highlight segments (I'm looking at you, ESPN) end up coming back to Tim Tebow, somehow, some way.

While I've been one of his biggest supporters ever since he came out of Nease High School in Florida, and it's not his fault this has come to life, the media has pretty much worn out every possible scenario of a story to relate him into.

But I have a few more ideas for the "talking heads" and production people at sports media establishments. None of these top stories have anything to do with Tebow, but after all, he's the true top story.

So here's how we can pretty much fit Timmy-T Time into any newsworthy item on TV or the web.

Albert Pujols to the Angels

1 of 6

How Tebow ties in: Albert Pujols has officially made the switch from the St. Louis Cardinals, to the Los Angeles of Anaheim (center Hollywood downtown Pasadena straight-out-of-Compton) Angels.

So the Angels are really in LA, which at one time, was where Al Davis and his Raiders played a few decades ago.

Those same Raiders had a linebacker named Bill Romanowski, who also happened to play for the Denver Broncos.

And who plays for the Broncos?

You got it. Tim Tebow. Don't see how SportsCenter brushed by the chance of putting him into this story. Or may be they did and I didn't notice.

Colt McCoy's Concussion and James Harrison

2 of 6

How Tebow fits in to the story: I know they're both quarterbacks, but where's the fun in that?

Colt McCoy suffered a concussion (that no one except him knew about at the time) after a vicious hit by James Harrison.

McCoy had a concussion. Tim Tebow had a concussion while at Florida.

Bam! That should be worth three segments and a 15-minute interview with Tebow to discuss concussions.

As far as James Harrison goes, it's pretty simple as well.

His name is James Harrison. His last name is the first name of Harrison Ford. His last name is Ford, like the automobile company.

Ford was founded by Henry Ford, whose family owns the Detroit Lions of the National Football League.

The Lions crushed the Broncos 45-10 earlier this season. Who plays quarterback for the Broncos?

Exactly.

Xavier-Cincinnati Fight

3 of 6

How Tebow fits into the story: Well, this was an ugly fight, filled with stompings and sucker punches, that led to suspensions. Tebow would never be a part of something like this, unless he somehow calmed the situation.

Oh, but we can always find a way to put him in the story.

Cincinnati and Xavier both play in the great state of Ohio. Ohio happens to be just north of the great (or not-so-great) state of Kentucky.

Lexington, Kentucky, is home to the University of Kentucky Wildcats, who are in the SEC with the University of Florida, where some guy won a couple of national titles and a Heisman Trophy.

Tebow also suffered that concussion against Kentucky, which brings us to the conclusion that Tebow got hit even harder than Kenny Frease did in that video.

This is easily a special with Bryant Gumbel on HBO. after all, It's not hard to see that he's really at the center of this story.

Magic Taking Dwight Howard off the Trading Block

4 of 6

How Tebow fits into the story: Dwight Howard has officially been taken off the trading block this week, but that could change multiple times in the next couple of days if Chris Broussard would like to pretend it has.

So how does Tebow go into this story?

For starters, Howard is one of the better players in his profession (no, I'm not saying Tebow is in his). Howard is particularly exceptional on defense.

And defense is the thing ESPN looks away from when they're covering the reason why the Denver Broncos are winning. Why is that? Don't pretend like you don't know.

Peyton Manning's Future

5 of 6

How Tebow fits into the story: This one is quite simple. Peyton Manning plays for the Indianapolis Colts (well, actually he's really not).

Those same Colts have tanked with Manning being out all this season after multiple neck surgeries. Since they haven't won a game, the Colts are well on their way to "winning" the first overall pick.

That pick will be used to draft the once-in-a-generation prospect Andrew Luck out of Stanford University.

In conclusion, John Elway and John Fox wish they had the first pick in the NFL draft. Who's their quarterback now? Oh yeah, Tim Tebow.

Whether they like it or not.

The Chris Paul Trade

6 of 6

How Tebow fits into the story: Chris Paul is the newest member of the Los Angeles Clippers, as of last night.

The great point guard will join forces with Blake Griffin to form one of the most dynamic duos in the entire league.

That same Blake Griffin jumped over a Kia Optima at last year's Slam Dunk Contest at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

What I'm wondering is, why was it a Kia? Who in America is buying a Kia?

Then again, who was buying into the Broncos at the beginning of this season? And who's their quarterback?

And that is how you can take any story and churn it into the media frenzy that has lately been surrounded by the talk of one man. And who is that?

You guessed it.
