NFL Week 15 Picks: Tim Tebow Won't Pass Patriots' Trial by Fire

Gabe ZaldivarDec 15, 2011

Let me give Broncos fans a huge break and say this game was a push. I would still take Tom Brady and the Patriots over Tim Tebow and the Broncos.

This isn't going to be a hater piece where I beat the troll bushes to get a rise, although I am sure many will still come out. This is about which team I think is hotter, better and more talented at the moment.

It is also an exercise in swallowing what we already know to be true. You see, I have been swept up in the Tebow hype as much as anyone. You simply have to turn your brain off when you watch him because what should happen hardly ever does.

Tebow's magic cannot be measured nor quantified. I get that. However, what I do know is the Patriots are clicking just as much as the Broncos right now, and their offense is doing just as good a job as the Broncos defense.

So, the question is not whether Tebow can win this game, because he can. The question is if the Broncos defense can keep the game close enough for the same conclusion that has played out in nearly every Tebow game this season to get underway.

The Broncos defense is indeed playing inspired ball in the second half. Yet some of their success can be attributed to some dire times for their opposition.

The Bears are simply awful without Jay Cutler and Matt Forte on that side of the ball. The Chargers were led by a Philip Rivers who had checked out mentally and was worthless physically. The game that has me worried is the win against the Vikings

The Vikings were able to put up 489 total yards and 360 yards came by the air. Their 32 points may have been higher had they been more efficient on third downs, going 6-of-15.

The Broncos can't have the same kind of effort on defense like they had just two weeks ago and expect a win. They are inching toward what looks to be a shootout, and that is exactly what has me confident that Brady and company will have the upper hand.
