NBA Rumors: Knicks' Exit from Jamal Crawford Hunt Gives Kings Perfect Shot
Amidst the debacles of rumors being destroyed and built up again, the Sacramento Kings have emerged as a team that is on the verge of quietly getting better.
The Hornets and Magic threaten to bring the NBA to the ground with a myriad of rumors that buzz for days only to be quickly killed. It just might be the teams that can stay away and build a solid core, safe from rumblings, that will win in the end.
The latest and greatest news on the best shooting guard in the free market is that the Knicks are no longer players for Jamal Crawford.
The New York Post's Marc Berman tweets this piece of breaking news on Wednesday.
That should come as great news to both the Portland Trailblazers and the Sacramento Kings. Both teams could stand to earn a shot in the arm of scoring power and uptempo play.
Crawford may have taken a step back when he suited up for the Atlanta Hawks, but he was given a lesser role in the offense which is most likely counter to how he would be treated by either of these two teams. I like this acquisition far more for the Kings, though.
I have to agree with Jason Jones who writes for The Sacramento Bee that the Kings would be a prolific team in the scoring department.
"Crawford, who has averaged 15.4 points for his career, can be an explosive scorer. Adding him to the backcourt with Tyreke Evans, Marcus Thornton and rookie Jimmer Fredette would make the Kings more potent offensively.
"
The Kings look to be taking a page from their neighbors, the Golden State Warriors. They will be all dazzle and little defense going forward.
If you want a reason to be excited, it will have to be the promise of 120-plus point games in Sacramento. Crawford is the perfect player to add depth and scoring. He is also perfect for this motif of uptempo and little defense.
The Knicks missed out on a player that would have been perfect in the Mike D'Antoni system, but it seems that Crawford will be just fine wherever goes.
