WWE Divas: How Fresh Faces Could Bring the Diva's Division Back to Life

Giulio RomanoDec 15, 2011

The Diva's Division...

A rich, long history of talented female competitors who give their all for the fans every night of the year.

Unfortunately, the division has somewhat fallen from grace over the last three years and if you don't believe that, then try explaining to your fellow WWE-watching friends why there was no "Diva of the Year" award in 2011.

Earlier this year, we had so much hope with the arrival of Kharma on the field. She could have brought in a new age of women's wrestling and opened up doors for many other to follow in her footsteps. Personally, I saw this as a way for the company to start weeding out the unnecessary talent taking up room on the roster and replacing it with more appropriate performers.

To be clear, the ladies who I may be referring to have done nothing "wrong." They just shouldn't be wrestling in the first place unless they really, really learned from the best.

It was not to be for the moment, as Kia Stevens a.k.a Kharma announced her pregnancy to the world and left just as soon as she arrived...for now.

There will be a time when hope is renewed, but how much longer can we wait? The division is in a sad state and the powers that be just cannot let things be and have a strong amazon nation—err...um...Diva's division.

The hope that came and went so quick can also be interpreted as the whole "Sisters of Destruction/Pin-Up Strong" movement. When Beth Phoenix and Natalya united to rid the world of the Barbie dolls, surely that should have been the moment we, Diva's fans, were waiting for.

Again, not to be.

Aside for the Glam Slam off the top rope, nothing phenomenal came out of that angle yet. The shameful part is, girlie girls like Kelly Kelly and Alicia Foxy have outwitted the powerful women several times. Worst than that, Beth and Natalya have started dressing up like dolls!

Really?

What we need to see starting next week is a whole repackaging of this mess. Keep the real talent around (Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Kharma, Eve Torres, AJ Lee and maybe Tamina) to establish strong stories. For heaven's sake, keep your Kelly Kelly for I don't know what and please, please do not subject us to anymore of the Vince McMahon Bella wh...escorts!

Go and find some new, fresh faces. Bring some old favorites back, even for just a little while. There are millions out there who cry out for the return of Lita, Chyna and Trish Stratus, to name a few. They could be a great asset to the division, no doubt about it.

There is often talk about a Sara Del Rey here on Bleacher Report. For the life of me, I haven't heard of her yet. It must surely be because I am unfamiliar with the indy scene or MMA, but I am willing to be educated.

Who is she?

Also, if the TNA Knockouts are in such bad shape, then why don't awesome performers like Angelina Love, Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne make a visit to WWE?

Wait, some of them were here before and were let go. Shortsighted, anyone?

2011 should have been like this in the Diva's division:

Beth Phoenix as Women's Champion since WrestleMania XXVII with a victory over Natalya, who shouldn't have lost that title in January to begin with.

Natalya, Melina, Maryse, Layla, Eve Torres and Gail Kim at the top of the list and then enter Kharma to shake everything up.

This is all on paper here, of course. We can't stop life from happening, and so injuries and pregnancies are part of that.

Letting go of Mickie James, I repeat, was a huge mistake, but that's almost two years ago now. I'll get over it.

Kelly Kelly has potential, that's for sure, but she really needs to take on a full-time trainer...right now or else NO ONE will ever believe she can stand toe-to-toe with the greatest, no matter how many roll-up upsets she pulls off.

Invite over some old faves who could push the envelope a little bit more and right there you would have a recipe for success. Wasn't there a rumor going around that even former champion Bull Nakano was being considered for an appearance?

Beth Phoenix vs. Bull Nakano...GULP! Reinforce the ring!

Try new things like Ladies' Ladder matches, Tables matches, a Women's Elimination Chamber...anything. The sky is the limit in WWE. Do it!

These girls aren't wimps or crybabies. They have enormous talent and skill, and some like me believe in them so much that their scheduled match on the card is one of the few we really wish to see.

You have so many old and new faces just waiting to give the fans what they want to see: quality Diva's matches with extraordinary finishes, storylines that make sense and credible performers who will leave a mark on wresting history forever.

It's not hard, you know. Think up a crazy idea and pencil it down already.

In the ring or in the kitchen, it's the same recipe, and there is an old saying that goes like this: good food takes time.

Thanks, Chef Boyardee!
