Why Fan Votes for Tim Tebow Yet Again Prove Pro Bowl Fan Vote Shouldn't Count
Don't get me wrong, I like Tim Tebow. He seems like a really good kid and I'm thrilled for him that he has found success in the NFL by leading the Denver Broncos to wins in seven of their last eight games. But with that said, sometimes things just go too far.
According to the league office, Tebow has now moved to third in the fan voting for quarterbacks in the AFC. He has passed Buffalo Bills signal-caller Ryan Fitzpatrick and is behind only Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger. Fan voting counts for one-third of the vote, while votes from players and coaches make up the other two-thirds.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I understand people really like Tebow, but this result just proves once again that fan voting for the Pro Bowl (or any All-Star game for that matter) is completely irrelevant and should be done away with.
Fans vote for the most popular guys, not the best players. That's the reason Derek Jeter makes the baseball All-Star Game every summer. It's unfair to the other players who actually have better numbers.
Tebow is by no measure a Pro Bowl quarterback. Yes, his team is winning games, and yes, he has played relatively well late in those wins. But taken as a whole he has not been very good under center this year.
The second-year quarterback currently boasts a completion percentage of 48.5 and a quarterback rating of 83.9. Both of those numbers should disqualify him from consideration for the game.
The Pro Bowl is supposed to be a big deal. In fact, guys pride themselves on how many times they have been selected. And if you want to get a true selection process that actually means something, the fan vote should be taken out of it.
The rules should be as follows: only players and coaches vote and they cannot vote for someone on their own team. That way, instead of just voting for teammates, guys will actually vote for who they think the best players from around the league are.
What Tebow is doing on the field right now is great for him and the Broncos. But he is not worthy of Pro Bowl consideration yet.
