WWE TLC 2011: Rumors of Possible Involvment for John Cena

The upcoming WWE pay-per-view TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs was going to be unusual for good reason.

Aside from the theme of the "brawl, fall and crawl" extravaganza, there was a missing name on the card.

Indeed, John Cena hasn't yet been booked for the upcoming pay-per-view.

However, WrestleZone's Justin LeBar notes this might change. In a quick blurb, he noted:

There has been talk of making John Cena the special referee for the United States Title Match between Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder according to F4Wonline.com. A stipulation may be in place for that match to where Cena gets added to the WWE Title main event against CM Punk, The Miz and Alberto Del Rio, making it a four-way.

"

There are other possibilities as to what Cena's appearance at TLC could entail. You'll recall that on the Slammy edition of last Monday's Raw, the former champion was choke-slammed by a returning Kane. That in itself sets up a potential encounter.

However, adding such a high-profile match would be unusual due to the short time left before the PPV. As such, there probably would not be enough time to hype such a match to make the effort worthwhile.

Indeed, such a feud would be unusual given that Kane was put out of action by Mark Henry, but it wouldn't be unheard of, either.

The situation as to Cena's role at the upcoming pay-per-view should clear up soon. Possibilities include a segment with Kane, using the United States championship match to fuel his character development and even the possibility of winning the title. The latter I would consider highly unlikely.

Cena, aside from injuries, has been involved with every pay-per-view since the early part of the last decade. Given that fact, the reason for him being left off the card in the first place can only be seen as a calculated decision.

What that reason is remains to be seen.
