EPL January Transfers: Tevez, Torres and Top Rumors
The news of possible big-name transfers has been on top of the rumor mill throughout the day and it only adds the wealth of possibilities that are afoot for the clubs in the English Premier League come January.
It is set for a great Christmas time and New Year's as a slew of games in the last weeks of the month get us amped up for the next chance our clubs have to reload.
With the transfer window only 17 days away and the rumors continuing to mount each new day brings more and more anticipation for the new year and here is what is cooking on the hot plate this afternoon.
Carlos Tevez
1 of 7According to The Sun, Tottenham are reportedly looking at a last-minute raid for Carlos Tevez from Manchester City despite rumors that his move to AC Milan was almost a lock.
Harry Redknapp could use a player like Tevez, but only if it is without the lip. However, that is not likely to be the case. A six-month loan would probably be a better solution.
Steven Fletcher and Matt Jarvis
2 of 7Mick McCarthy and Wolverhampton Wanderers are bracing themselves for a possible attempted raid on their current in-form striker, Scottish International Steven Fletcher.
Fletcher has scored 16 goals for Wolves in 23 appearances since joining the club and is thought be a possible target for multiple clubs in England.
Likewise also contained in the Daily Mirror report that included Fletcher, McCarthy is worried clubs could be coming after his star winger Matt Jarvis as the Englishman is returning to form.
David Villa
3 of 7Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has defended rumors that star center forward David Villa is heading to England to join either Chelsea or Liverpool.
The Daily Mail and Daily Mirror both have reported on the matter and it is an interesting one to bemuse as a possibility despite clubs being warned off of him.
Lucas Biglia and Tomas Rosicky
4 of 7Arsenal look to have their sights set on RSC Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia according to TalkSport and the player could move for as little at £9 million.
That news breaks as it appears that Tomas Rosicky is looking to make an exit from the Emirates and head to VfL Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga as reported by the Daily Mail.
Milos Krasic
5 of 7Manchester United could make a surprise loan bid for Juventus' out-of-favor Milos Krasic in January according to rumors in the Daily Mail.
The injuries have been piling up for Sir Alex Ferguson this season and despite not wanting to make purchases in the next window, he could have to add to his squad out of necessity rather than want.
Mario Goetze
6 of 7Arsenal have been linked with Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Goetze once again as TalkSport claims that the Bundesliga club is holding the Gunners to a price tag of no less than £30 million.
Given Arsene Wenger's love for chasing young signatures, it would not surprise me to see the London club break the bank for the highly sought-after youngster.
Fernando Torres
7 of 7The biggest rumor of the day could be the possible sale of Fernando Torres in the January transfer window.
After a £50 million move to Chelsea in January of last season, the Blues could be set to let him go for £20 million according to the Daily Mail and the Telegraph, and would take a massive loss of £30 million to their pocketbook.
In his 25 league games at Stamford Bridge, he has only scored three league goals. That is in stark contrast to his first 25 games on Merseyside with Liverpool where he scored 18 goals during his debut campaign.
The Telegraph puts it even more in perspective with this article.
Chelsea could hold on to him till late in the month, however, before they decide as the loss of Didier Drogba to the African Cup of Nations will see them stripped down to just Torres and young Daniel Sturridge as Nicolas Anelka will be long gone to China by then.
Torres has his fate in his own hands and if he can get on the pitch and convince in the next 30 to 40 days, he may not leave the Blues. But if he fails to make any kind of effort to remain, he is surely set to be packed off at the end of January or first thing in the summer.
