Bulls Rumors: Richard Hamilton Not Guaranteed to Go to Chicago

Kelly ScalettaDec 14, 2011

For the last several days it's appeared to have been a foregone conclusion that Richard Hamilton, who has been bought out by the Pistons, would be signing a two-year, $10 million contract with the Bulls.

Then, last night Hamilton tweeted: "Got my list narrowed down to 3 teams. 17 hours until I clear waivers. Can't wait Yesssssirr."

Three teams? This is not the way things were supposed to go.

Apparently this might not be a done deal after all, and depending on what your feelings are about the deal, that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Don't go to a complete and utter panic though. Jamal Crawford is still available and he has the same offer on the table—two years and $10 million, from Portland and Sacramento—that the Bulls are offering Hamilton.

If Hamilton decides for some strange reason to go to one of the other two teams, then the Bulls can always extend the same offer to Crawford.

Saving that, there's always the possibility of a trade. OJ Mayo isn't going to Indiana, so there's the chance they could get him. Arron Afflalo has not yet signed with Denver either, though that would be a risky move as if the Bulls extend an offer to him, their money will be tied up until Denver matches.

Of course, there's always the possibility that this is much ado about nothing. The prospect of playing shooting guard in the shadow of Michael Jordan's legacy appears to be just too intimidating to some though.

It might be happening again.
