Miami Heat Rumors: Big 3 Won't Get Any More Help in South Beach

Gabe ZaldivarDec 13, 2011

Miami Heat fans are forced to savor every last drop of joy they received when LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Dwyane Wade in Miami.

Looking at the NBA landscape, there isn't much more that a cash-strapped franchise can do to improve. We all knew this is how things were going to go in South Beach.

There is a great deal of talent and money tied up in three players. That means any amount of improvement will take place over time and not in one giant splash, as was the case last season.

In fact, you have to like what has taken place so far. Shane Battier is the perfect player to fill in the gaps, like necessary grout framing expensive tile.

The main players the Heat were hoping to make a jump at are gone, snatched up by teams with more money at their immediate disposal.

Ira Winderman writing for The Sun-Sentinel writes that the Heat had hopes they could fill their roster with some size by making a move on Kwame Brown.

Instead, Brown has since signed with the Golden State Warriors for $7 million. Jeff Caplan of ESPN wrote how the Mavericks and Heat were crossing their fingers that newly amnestied Chauncey Billups would land in their roster.

Instead, the Clippers were the ones to take a chance on a player that promised to retire rather than play for anything less than a contender.

The Heat still have holes at point guard and at center. They will play small for a second straight season and leave the rebounding to power forward/center Chris Bosh.

It is hardly time to worry as this same formula delivered a berth to the finals. It is going to take some time to really answer all the issues this team has. As they are, they remain the favorites to win the East.

So it seems that all the good options have left, but that shouldn't matter to a team as talented as this.
