Week 15 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Ben Roethlisberger and QBs You Must Bench

Tim KeeneyDec 14, 2011

Here's a quick look at three quarterbacks whom, as your fantasy weeks get more and more important, you might want to think twice about before starting.

Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

Big Ben may have been able to finish that game against the Cleveland Browns due to adrenaline and guts, but I'm not so sure how he'll be after a week and a half.

Roethlisberger is currently questionable, so keep an eye on him, but I'm not confident in him if he starts.

He has a high ankle sprain in his planting foot and that makes it very hard to be accurate, especially on throws more than 10 yards downfield.

Throw in the fact the Steelers are playing the 49ers and their pretty decent defense, and Big Ben is benchable in most leagues.

Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles

Vick isn't necessarily someone you have to bench, but depending on the league and your team you might want to bench him.

First of all, he's injury prone as...heck. You don't even know if he's going to make it through all four quarters.

Second, he really hasn't even been all that good this season when healthy. He hasn't thrown for more than 300 yards since Week 5 and wasn't really utilized in the run last week against Miami.

Third, the Jets have been the fourth-best defense against fantasy quarterbacks this year.

I'd say the ceiling is 200 passing yards, 50 rushing yards and a touchdown with hopefully zero interceptions. And remember: That's the ceiling.

If that's the type of thing that can help you, go for it.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo Bills

His usable fantasy games are becoming less and less common as he threw for 176 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions last week.

He's just too inconsistent to use.

Also, the Dolphins haven't allowed a 300-yard passer since Week 8 and absolutely shut down Fitzpatrick (209 yards, 20-of-39 passing, zero touchdowns, two picks) in Week 11.

This just doesn't add up to a good week for the Harvard grad.

Don't get cute.
