Michigan's Sugar Bowl Uniforms: Wolverines Choose Horrific Design for BCS Return

The Michigan Wolverines are about to make your eyes bleed.

After suffering through the Rich Rodriguez era, the Big Blue are back in the BCS to play the Virginia Tech Hokies in the Sugar Bowl on January 3^rd.

Order has been restored to Ann Arbor under first-year head coach Brady Hoke…or so we thought.

The university has unveiled its new jerseys for the game and the one word that comes to mind after seeing them is simple: woof.

The new jerseys are the third part of the “legacy” uniform collection with the first two installments coming against Notre Dame and Michigan State.

In a shocking revelation, coach Brady Hoke claims to have gotten the input from his players:

We met with our seniors and showed them some concepts that were proposed by adidas and the mock-up is what they chose. This is a something the players enjoy and we thought it would be a nice way to commemorate our appearance in the Sugar Bowl.

"

Why?????

The helmet features a grey face mask on the infamous winged helmet that was in style back in the 1960s, which just so happens to be the last time the Wolverines were wearing them.

The jersey itself features two ugly stripes on the shoulders that look pretty stupid on the solid white jersey. The blue numbers with yellow trim are predictable and I’d argue quite boring, with the oddly colored gray “M” emblem on the chest completely out of place.

The pants are the typical maize color, which is the only redeeming quality of the uniforms. Overall there isn’t enough yellow and the two stripes look incredibly ugly with this specific color combination.

Let’s hope Denard Robinson plays a lot better than he looks in the Sugar Bowl.
