Week 15 Start Em Sit Em: Top QBs Who Will Struggle to Score Points

Ryan RudnanskyDec 13, 2011

Every star quarterback has a bad game every once in a while, whether it be a tough matchup or individual struggles.

In Week 15 of the NFL season, several top quarterbacks will be brought back down to Earth.

Here are three in particular who will fall hard.

3. Mark Sanchez, New York Jets

Mark Sanchez has been inconsistent throughout his career, but every now and then he will show glimpses of becoming a true franchise quarterback.

In Week 14, Sanchez had a big game, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for two more.

But Week 15 will be a tougher matchup, and I expect Sanchez to have a letdown.

Sanchez faces the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15. They are giving up the 13th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, but they stopped the previously surging Matt Moore in Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins.

In Philadelphia, I expect the Eagles to be more of a handful, and for Sanchez to receive and unwelcome surprise.

2. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but that doesn't always translate to fantasy points given the Steelers' style of offense.

In Week 15, Roethlisberger faces the San Francisco 49ers, who are giving up a league-best 14.0 points per game this season. They also have allowed the eighth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks.

Roethlisberger will put up decent numbers, but nothing worthy of a No. 1 QB in fantasy leagues.

1. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles

The jury is out on whether Michael Vick is still a top quarterback after a stellar season in 2010.

But he's still very talented, and very explosive, and he always has the ability of racking up fantasy points.

However, in Week 15 he faces the New York Jets, who have a top pass defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.

He struggled against the Dolphins in Week 14, going 15-of-30 for 208 yards, one touchdown and one interception, and I expect him to struggle again, even in Philadelphia.
