NBA Free Agents: Likely Destinations for Nene and Other Overrated Free Agents

Brian MaziqueDec 13, 2011

Nene is a good center, about to be paid like a great one. He is probably hoping the New Jersey Nets strike out on Dwight Howard.

The Brazilian big man could and will land in New Jersey.

Whether his presence will be enough the get Deron Williams to stay is another story.

If Dwight goes to New Jersey, I believe Nene lands back in Denver, and either way, he'll be paid more than a 15 point, seven rebound a game center is worth.

Arron Afflalo

Arron Afflalo is another Nuggets free agent. Afflalo is a restricted free agent, so Denver can match any offer. Afflalo is a nice complementary player, but he should not be the subject of a bidding war. A salary that exceeds $6.5 million per year is too much.

He fits in well with teams like Chicago, but they must beware about overpaying to fill a void. In the end, he returns to Denver as well.

Josh Howard

The swingman is currently holding court with a few teams. It seems the Spurs and Jazz are leading the way.

Howard's knees and chemistry are apparently taking a backseat to teams' need for a defensive-minded swingman.

At this point in his career, there are other options that I'd consider safer. In the end, Howard lands in San Antonio. He just doesn't strike me as the type to enjoy Salt Lake City very much.
