Manchester United Transfers: 11 January Targets Linked to Red Devils

Manchester United have had a rough few months leading up to the transfer window.

From a crushing home defeat to Manchester City, being eliminated from the Champions League and now a midfield that has been decimated by injury the Red Devils are ready for their fortunes to change.

The news of Wayne Rooney's UEFA European Championships ban being reduced has seemed to give the striker a boost as he scored a brace last weekend. Nani perhaps has started to come back life as he too scored two goals.

However, the fact remains that United could do with a few reinforcements.

Darren Fletcher's long-term absence looks to be taking a huge toll and injuries to Tom Cleverly, Anderson, Javier Hernandez, Nemanja Vidic, Fabio, Rafael, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen and Bebe are causing headaches for Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Red Devils may have to buy in January whether they want to or not.

Daniele De Rossi

Caughtoffside have linked AS Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi with Manchester United. This summer there were rumors of a possible move for the player but nothing came to fruition.

With Sir Alex Ferguson facing a midfield that is more depleted by injury than has been seen at Old Trafford in a long time, he could prompted to make a move.

Jack Rodwell

Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell is the latest Toffee to be linked with a move to Manchester United. Givemefootball suggests that an offer in the range of £20 million could be on the table for the youngster.

Rodwell has been rumored to be on the move to United in the past, but this time it could be a much more serious situation since the Red Devils will more than likely have to add someone despite Sir Alex Ferguson's desire to avoid expenditures in January.

Milos Krasic

Juventus look to be willing to allow out-of-favor winger Milos Krasic to go to Manchester United on loan in January.

The Daily Mirror claims that the latest reports are that the move would be a done deal if Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed he was all in.

A loan move would be more suited to the Red Devils' needs since they have the players in their squad for the future.

They just need to get them healthy and would rather not have another player that will be out of a job come the summer that they would have to try to sell, most likely for a loss.

Cheik Tiote

Newcastle United tough-but-skillful midfielder Cheik Tiote looks to be a hot transfer prospect across the EPL.

Manchester United are among a group of teams from the English top flight that are keen on acquiring the 25-year-old Ivorian.

The Guardian claims that along with United any other team will have to have deep pockets to pry away the midfielder come January, as the Magpies are bracing themselves for a raid on multiple stars in addition to Tiote.

Nathaniel Clyne

Last month English Championship side Crystal Palace managed a huge Carling Cup upset of Manchester United at Old Trafford. During that game Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson.

That seems to be all it has taken to get rumors going in the Daily Mail that the youngster could be set for a move to Old Trafford in the January or summer transfer window.

Jetro Willems

Dutch Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven are likely to be the subject of a Manchester United raid if the rumors in both the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror prove true that the Red Devils are interested in defensive youngster Jetro Willems.

It is believed that the 17-year-old would be the future left back for United as Sir Alex Ferguson has no true future replacement in the wings for left back Patrice Evra.

Sandro

Givemefootball has come out stating that Manchester United could be interested in a move for Tottenham midfielder Sandro as they hunt a replacement for Darren Fletcher, who is in the midst of a career crisis right when United could use him the most.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel

Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel was rumored to be a target of Manchester United but is now reported set to turn down an offer from the Red Devils if it were to come his way, according to the Daily Mirror.

In many ways that would be understandable because he has more playing time to develop his game in Portugal than he would if he were a squad striker at United.

Mehdi Benatia

According to Tribalfootball, Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia has Manchester United on alert after he has reportedly turned down an approach from French side Paris Saint Germain.

PSG are not likely to quite have the pedigree that Benatia is looking for, but an offer from Manchester United might be a whole different ballgame.

Lucas Ocampos

Metro reports that both Manchester United and Chelsea could be interested in a move for youngster Lucas Ocampos of Argentine side River Plate.

It is believed that it would take somewhere close to £15 million to pry the youngster away from South America and his family.

Wesley Sneijder

Once again the mention of Wesley Sneijder moving to Old Trafford is making its way around the rumor mill with the Daily Mail the most recent to make him the subject of much interest.

However, this time it appears that Inter Milan could be much more willing to do a deal as Inter are trying to build up enough of a transfer cache to pry away Eden Hazard from Lille.
