WWE Slammy Awards 2011: Best and Worst of Monday Night Raw

John NizinskiDec 13, 2011

After the three-hour Slammy Awards on Raw last night, we can look back and see what we can take away from it.  There were some good things, some bad things and one big monster thing.

Here we will look at the the best things, which made fans want this Raw to be a four-hour special and the worst things, which made fans want this Raw to be a regular two-hour Monday Night Raw.

Worst: Michael Cole vs. Jim Ross

1 of 9

This feud between the announcers is getting old and is extremely annoying.  There was nothing entertaining about any of the opening segment.

Hornswoggle is not funny or entertaining and for some reason continues to get air time.  It looks as if he will get even more now that his character can talk.

The rap battle was awful, plain and simple.  There was no need for it and it just shows even more that this feud has no purpose.

Jim Ross attempting the spin-a-rooney was pathetic, and I don't understand why he continues to embarrass himself and ruin his reputation.

Best: Return of Old Superstar

2 of 9

The Slammy Awards always causes some surprise appearances.  Last night was no different.

Familiar faces that were in attendance last night included Mick Foley and Ted Dibiase.  These two put on a decently entertaining segment while presenting their award.

Some surprise appearances came from Road Dogg Jesse James and Lita.  Road Dogg did not look close to any kind of wrestling shape but proved that he still has mic skills that could match anybody in the company's. As for Lita, do not be surprised if she returns to action soon.  She looked like she was in excellent shape and could compete immediately.

I have to admit, I was hoping for Bad Ass Billy Gunn to follow Road Dogg out to present the award.

Worst: Tony Atlas Laughing

3 of 9

It is usually always a treat to have former superstars return to the WWE.  Tony Atlas returning last night was far from a treat.

Atlas came out to present an award with David Otunga and may have won the award for most annoying moment of the night.  As Otunga was speaking and attempting to announce the award. Atlas sat there, staring at him and laughing over and over and over and over.  The sound of Tony Atlas' laugh was in my nightmare last night.

Best: Triple H

4 of 9

After about two months away from the ring, Triple H returned last night.  His return was necessary in order for the match this Sunday at TLC to have any excitement.  Triple H came out and showed his usual intensity.

The one thing I do not like about this is that Kevin Nash was not there.  A small confrontation between Nash and Triple H last night would have made more sense because of all the time that the WWE has spent on this feud.

Best: Fatal Four Way Match

5 of 9

Four of the best young talent in the business were all involved in the same match last night.  It was cool to see the United States Champion and the Intercontinental Champion go after each other for a little last night.

There were some memorable moments taken away from this match including Zack Ryder and Daniel Bryan simultaneously diving over the ropes on opposite sides of the ring. The two suplexes off the top ropes, one after the other.  The ending of the match was exciting down to the last second and you didn't know who was going to win the match.

Worst: Fatal Four Way Commercials

6 of 9

This Fatal Four Way Match would have been the best thing about this show if not for the big ending.  The match was awesome but the reason why it is in the worst column is the fact that there were two commercial breaks during the match.

This match should have been commercial free and the Jim Ross and Michael Cole segment should have went on during a commercial break.  Fans should take every opportunity to see these young stars compete and consistently put on the matches of the night.

Best: John Cena's Shot at the Rock

7 of 9

John Cena came out and accepted the award for "Game Changer of the Year."  He then called out the Rock and asked him to join him on stage or via satellite to accept the award.

Whether you hate him or love him, John Cena is 110% correct in his argument against the Rock.  Rock said he is back and is never leaving, yet he barely has been on Raw since saying that.  There is merit to what John Cena is saying and he should get praised by his haters for calling out the Rock.

Worst: Still No Angle for John Cena

8 of 9

Coming into the night, I though that the WWE would rush a feud between John Cena and someone in order to set up a match at TLC. There was also the possibility of a surprise heel turn.  Neither of these things happened.  Now the WWE looks like it is going to have a pay-per-view without a John Cena match.  This is not saying that Cena will not be involved with the event.  Expect something to happen with Cena at TLC, whether it is him interfering with a match or getting involved after a match.

Best: Masked Kane Returns

9 of 9

After weeks of promo videos, Kane made his largely anticipated return.  To much of the fans expectations and delight, he returned with a mask on his face.  The mask was a little different from the old mask that Kane use to wear but it is just as creepy.  Whether the choke-slam he gave to John Cena was to send a statement to the entire roster or if it was an intentional attack on Cena (Cena was seen quickly in the mirror in the last promo) is still questionable and time will tell.

Expect the old Big Red Monster to shake up the WWE and continue to make statements that show him as the most dominant force in the WWE.  At TLC Kane could come out and take out Mark Henry, then turn to Big Show (who thinks he is safe because they were partners) and take him out as well.

Kane has immediately risen up the charts as a potential World Heavyweight Champion, Royal Rumble winner, and challenger to break Undertaker's undefeated WrestleMania streak.
