WWE TLC 2011: 5 Reasons PPV Will Fail

Donald WoodDec 13, 2011

The WWE is preparing for what could be one of the most exciting pay-per-views of the entire year, but there are still major issues that have arisen.

With the lack of serious storylines, the WWE is playing this card by ear. As bad as that sounds for the company, the PPV is shaping up to be much better than expected. At least on paper.

There are a few holdups, though. Most of the major stars in the WWE are just starting on new storylines, so the whole show seems very haphazardly put together.

The following are reasons why this TLC PPV will look good but ultimately fail, like WCW.

Enjoy!

Kevin Nash vs. Triple H Isn’t the Main Event

1 of 5

There should be no reason that the ladder match between Triple H and Kevin Nash isn’t the main event of the TLC PPV this Sunday.

These are two main-event guys, legends even, going head-to-head in a sledgehammer ladder match to settle the timeless feud of former best friends turned enemies. Classic.

What blows my mind is that Vinny Mac is going to allow this instant classic to be buried in the middle of a PPV that is screaming for a main event like this.

John Cena Isn’t Fighting for WWE Title

2 of 5

There is no way the WWE should have John Cena anywhere but in the WWE Title picture until The Rock shows up again. Instead, he will fight Kane.

While it isn’t official, the ending of last night’s show with the return of Kane to the ring with a new mask and choke slamming John Cena makes it obvious that a feud is coming.

I love the idea of John Cena fighting Kane over the next month or two and it may be the only reason I haven’t rioted about Cena not wearing the gold.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder Isn’t a Ladder Match

3 of 5

This is the biggest robbery in the WWE in 2011, and that should be a Slammy Award next year.

Everyone has been comparing the feud between Ryder and Ziggler to Scott Hall and Shawn Michaels in the early days of their careers, but they have been denied the defining moment they are lacking.

There is still time for the WWE to correct this injustice. If they love the WWE universe, they will give us Michaels vs. Hall Part 2: Electric Woo Woo Woo.

Mark Henry vs. Big Show

4 of 5

Any time these big monsters get in the ring together, fans better be ready for the worst technical wrestling you could ever imagine.

While there is always one cool spot in every big man vs. big man match, the time leading up to it is spent sweating and awkwardly trying to apply moves they can’t pull off.

Mark Henry is almost guaranteed a win, so I hope this is the end of the feud and the last time I have to watch this mediocre matchup.

CM Punk Is Marred in a Triple Threat WWE Title Match

5 of 5

There is no bigger star in the WWE (besides John Cena) than CM Punk. He has captured the hearts and minds of the WWE Universe.

With Punk’s merchandise selling like hot cakes, it makes no sense for the WWE to continue to bury him in triple threat title matches with odd stipulations.

I wish that just for once, Punk could have fought Del Rio or The Miz in a singles match that ended in a clean win. There is always garbage around Punk’s wins, but WWE has to have it their way.
