Tim Tebow: Even Satanists Think Much-Maligned Denver Broncos QB Is a Winner

Mike ChiariDec 13, 2011

With yet another dramatic comeback win on Sunday, many are looking for a way to explain the success of Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. One theory is that God is looking out for the Broncos due to his well-documented religious faith, but Satanists aren't buying it.

According to TMZ.com, high priest Magnus Peter H. Gilmore of The Church of Satan said that it wouldn't make sense for God to give Tebow and the Broncos a helping hand because that would, in turn, mean that God was harming the chances of other teams.

Rather, Gilmore believes that Tebow's own personal faith could be contributing to the winning attitude of the team.

Those who have a winning attitude tend to do better, and whatever fuels such team spirit, be it religious fervor or simply an overwhelming desire to succeed, is the real source for success.

"

I never thought I would say this, but maybe that Satanist is on to something. It really is difficult to explain the success of Tebow since there has never really been another quarterback like him. Despite his unorthodox style and paltry passing numbers, Tebow has led four straight fourth-quarter comebacks and is 7-1 since taking over as the starter.

Perhaps the most mystical of all his comebacks came on Sunday when the Broncos were trailing the Chicago Bears 10-0 with around four minutes remaining in the game. Tebow led a touchdown drive and then kicker Matt Prater hit a 59-yard field goal in the final seconds to force overtime.

In overtime, Bears running back Marion Barber fumbled while in field-goal range, allowing Tebow to march down the field and lead what turned out to be the game-winning drive. Tebow sure does do a lot of praying on the sidelines, but there has to be a more logical explanation for his success.

As the Satanist said, I think having a will to win has plenty to do with it. Also, the simple fact that Tebow is so different from every quarterback in the league has something to do with it as well. He isn't a particularly accurate passer, but his running ability and mastery of the option forces defenses to be extra cautious when dealing with him.

If nothing else, Tebow's success really has to make you question whether or not Satan is getting the job done. Sure, he has corrupted a lot of people over the years, but shouldn't his main goal be to oppress those who respect and honor his polar opposite?

Well, Satan is about as befuddled as opposing defenses are right now, as Tebow has the Broncos sitting pretty with a record of 8-5 and a one-game lead in the AFC West. Call it divine intervention or whatever you'd like, but Tebow simply seems to have something that other players lack.
