Week 15 Waiver Wire Pickups: Jake Locker and Fantasy Football Fill-Ins to Add

Josh MartinDec 13, 2011

Injuries are as much a fact of life in the NFL as they are in fantasy football and, boy, have they hit hard in 2011. Of course, where health is scarce, opportunity is plentiful, especially for these three guys who'll be flying off the waiver wire before too long.

Jake Locker

The Titans are taking a "wait and see" approach with Matt Hasselbeck's calf, but don't let that keep you from sneaking Jake Locker onto your roster. Locker performed well in Hasselbeck's stead against the Saints, throwing for 282 yards and a touchdown.

If he makes it into Tennessee's starting lineup against Indy on Sunday, you can bet he'll duplicate those numbers, at the very least, against one of the NFL's worst defenses while showing off his speed as a runner from the quarterback position.

T.J. Yates

It looks like the Texans (and your quarterback situation) aren't screwed after all, thanks in large part to the emergence T.J. Yates. The rookie out of North Carolina posted a breakout performance against the Bengals in Week 14 with 300 yards and two touchdowns.

And guess who Houston's playing this weekend? That's right—the Carolina Panthers, whose defense is among the softest the NFL has to offer. If Yates can handle Cincy's stout D, he most certainly can make hay against Ron Rivera's bunch.

Felix Jones

Must be awkward for Felix Jones to be the injury fill-in now, seeing as how the guy he's replacing (DeMarco Murray) took his job for the same reason earlier this season.

Jones wasted little time reminding fantasy owners what he's capable of, racking up 137 yards from scrimmage after taking over for Murray, whose busted ankle will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

You can pencil him in for at least that many more yards, and perhaps a touchdown or two, on Saturday night against Tampa Bay's defense, which ranks 28th in the NFL against the run.
