WWE: Why John Cena's Association with Zack Ryder Is a Big Deal

It's Monday night and time for the 2011 Annual Slammy Awards!

Who will be the Superstar of the year? The Diva of the year? What will be the greatest match we witnessed out of all the crazy moments in the WWE?

It won't be long...just a few hours to wait.

There is the category of Breakout Star of the Year as well. Perhaps Zack Ryder is in there and will pull of the upset. 

He demonstrated he can make it if he puts his mind to it and has not given up the fight to make something of himself in this company. He did it so well, it even got the attention of Megastar John Cena.

The very face of the company even went as far as abandoning his own shot at the WWE championship in order for Zack Ryder to receive a United States title match this Sunday at TLC.

To have such a great honor bestowed upon you is a very big deal!

Is there another meaning behind this move? Perhaps all is not as it seems and the corporate figure heads are going to try something new this time around.

Zack Ryder Gets a Reward for All His Hard Work

Zack Ryder now has head bands, a few t-shirts, a hit Internet show and his own championship belt! 

Not only that, he went from being nowhere near a television match to main-eventing RAW a few weeks ago. That is quite impressive.

The young man did everything he could to get on everyone's mind and his messages on Z-TLIS were loud and clear. If WWE did nothing with him then, they would have dropped the ball.

To make them understand, Ryder had to win over the biggest Superstar on the roster, and he did just that. Getting John Cena on his bandwagon rallied his fans and made the company realize what sort of assets this this man from Long Island, NY could possess.

Zack Ryder hustled, remained loyal and finally got some respect. He earned it and we are possibly looking at the next United States champion right there.

His New Found Friendship Will Skyrocket His Popularity

The Zack Pack...

Legions of people standing proudly behind their hero, Zack Ryder. Could we witness the birth of some sort of new people's champion?

You want to get popular, so it is wise to associate yourself with the most popular (debatable) babyface there is. Some who dislike Cena can agree to a truce if in turn they like Ryder. For example, I didn't like R-Truth at all but made a compromise when he was paired with The Miz and I actually loved their segments.

Same thing here. 

All the kids who worship John Cena can now start to give Zack Ryder just as much love. He does look perfect for the role too. His merchandise appears to be very childish.

There is always a loud "We Want Ryder" chant in the crowd. Always good news in my book.

John Cena Can Get Sympathy from Haters Who Love Zack Ryder

Let's face the facts here.

Surrendering your spot in a title match for someone else is a noble thing to do. It can hurt your pride a little but in return you get the sympathy of those who dislike you and maybe even win some over in the process.

John Cena helped Zack Ryder get another crack at Dolph Ziggler's title and perhaps warmed the hearts of many who would love to rid the WWE of Captain America.

It's a win-win situation for both Superstars in the long run. John Cena can get a title match pretty much whenever he wants and Ryder can have a career-defining moment by beating an up-and-coming star at the same time he wins his first major singles gold.

It Could Prepare Us for the Long-Awaited Heel Turn

Did anyone ever think that this all happens for a reason?

Could John Cena and WWE prepare Zack Ryder in order for him to become a great babyface? This just in time as Superman turns to the dark side and destroys everyone until he meets The Rock at WrestleMania 28.

Call it a transfer of power and positive energy. 

If it is all about sales and the children then Zack Ryder could become something the little kiddies love so much they would all wear the headbands and the sunglasses.

If Cena turns, we need someone to fill in the blank right? I could see The Miz fill that spot in 2012 but maybe Ryder is a wise choice too.

He certainly has a lot of fans and people chant his name everywhere.

Is this a sign?

Friends Do That for One Another...

They are perhaps true friends in real life and this is a way for John Cena to help out a buddy. 

Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake are real friends and they stuck by each other all these years. In this business, you spend more time with fellow Superstars than you do with your wives or husbands. 

Zack Ryder has worked hard and won over many people in the process, and for him to strike up a legitimate friendship with the face of the WWE is the best thing that could have happened.

Nobody knows what will happen in the future, and you will always have people trying to bring you down, but if you believe and you put your mind to it, you really can accomplish anything.

Long Island Ice Z is on his way. John Cena just helped push him so he can go faster.
