WWE TLC 2011: Predicting the Winners of Each Match at the Next PPV
WWE's annual TLC PPV is tomorrow night, so I figured what better way to preview the event than by trying to predict the winners of each match?
Unless things change there are a total of six matches on the card for the night: Cody Rhodes vs Booker T, Mark Henry vs Bog Show, Triple H vs Kevin Nash, Dolph Ziggler vs Zack Ryder, Randy Orton vs Wade Barrett and CM Punk vs Miz vs Del Rio.
Out of these six matches, four of them are for titles. The only titles not being defended are the Divas title and the Tag titles.
There is always the possibility that another match will be added mid card, as we have seen WWE do this many times in the past, and with a six match card, I think it would be in their best interests to do so.
Air Boom could defend against Primo and Epico, or Beth could defend her Divas title. They could also add a non-title match between Brodus Clay and someone else if they decide to ever actually bring him in.
So please take a look at my predictions and reasons for those predictions for each match on the card.
Triple H vs Kavin Nash Sledge Hammer Ladder Match
1 of 6This match is one of the more personal feuds on the card, as these two men have been friends for over 15 years. Their match on Sunday should hopefully put an end to this feud.
Since Nash has returned, he has been met with a considerable amount of criticism from fans, and giving him a win in this match will anger these people even more.
Nash is someone I respect quite a bit for all he has done, but he needs to realize he is turning into Hogan, at least in regards to wrestling way past his expiration date.
This is a ladder match with a sledgehammer hanging from high above the ring in place of the normal title belt that would hang down.
The only reason I could see WWE giving Nash the win was if they were planning on doing some kind of NWO angle, which I hope to Jebus is not the case.
Predicted Winner: Triple H
Wade Barrett vs Randy Orton Tables Match
2 of 6The only other feud on the card without a title at stake besides Nash/Trips is Wade Barrett vs Randy Orton. Over the last few months Wade Barrett has been making the Viper's life a living hell.
Not only has Barrett cleanly pinned Orton a couple times, but he has continually gotten involved in his matches, even costing him matches against the likes of Dolph Ziggler.
The two are set to face off in a tables match to try and finally settle their feud once and for all, but if we know both of these men, this will probably not be the end of the program.
Orton has been doing a great job of putting others over without looking weak, which really adds to how great he is for WWE.
Someone in his position in the company might not be willing to put someone over who is not nearly at their level in terms of success, but Orton has proved he can put the company above his own personal needs.
Predicted Winner: Wade Barrett
Cody Rhodes vs Booker T for the Intercontinental Title
3 of 6Cody and Booker have been exchanging words and fists over the past several weeks ever since Rhodes threw a bottle of water at Booker following a match.
Rhodes has been upset with the way Booker has been talking about him on commentary lately, and he decided to take out his frustrations on the former Harlem Heat great.
Booker has not taken this lightly, as he has also had a couple attacks on Cody "Dr Doom" Rhodes. This all led to a match being made for Cody's title at TLC.
This is one of the few matches without a hardcore stipulation, so it will be interesting to see how Booker performs.
We haven't seen much of Booker wrestling since leaving TNA, unless you count the Rumble, so hopefully Cody can help him shake off any ring rust he might have early on.
Unless WWE has a long-term plan for these two, I can only see this going one way.
Predicted winner: Cody Rhodes to retain
Zack Ryder vs Dolph Ziggler for the United States Championship
4 of 6The Woo Woo Woo Kid might only have one more chance to gain the US title from Ziggler tomorrow night.
Ryder got his shot after Cena not only gave up his own WWE title shot, but gave an AA to Mark Henry to secure the win for his buddy Ryder.
Over the last several months, Ryder has really proved that he is willing to work his tail off for the company, and they have repaid him with one of the better pushes I can remember in recent history.
This comes after he made a name for himself on YouTube through his Long Island Iced Z web shows. A few other superstars have tried this same method, but no one has had the same level of success as Ryder.
I think it is finally time to not only give a real title to Ryder, but to give Ziggler the chance to move up from the mid card.
Predicted Winner: Zack Ryder to become new US champion
Mark Henry vs Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship
5 of 6This will be the fourth PPV in a row where these two giants will be facing off over the title, something I cannot remember happening in a long time.
Henry has either beaten Big Show or managed to barely hold onto his title by cheating or the match never finishing.
Like Ryder for the US title, this could be Show's last chance to face Henry for the title. This is one of the harder matches to predict on the card because both men deserve the title.
Mark Henry has done a great job as a monster heel champion, and Big Show is deserving of a world title after having gone so long without one and having done great work since returning.
Predicted winner: Big Show to become new WHC
CM Punk vs Miz vs Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship
6 of 6The first ever triple threat TLC match for the WWE title has three of WWE's most valuable commodities competing in a very dangerous environment.
Punk has gained almost a cult-like following since that memorable promo he gave several months ago, and ever since winning the title he has promised to make it interesting again.
Miz is someone whose rise to stardom is somewhat unconventional. He has been on TV for over 10 years, and we have seen him go from WWE fan to WWE champion right before our eyes.
He has truly had an inspiring story if you really examine it. Del Rio will crush those dreams if he has his way though.
Even though his stock might now be so high right now, Del Rio is still a top-notch competitor and will contribute well in this match.
Predicted winner: CM Punk to retain
