WWE Slammy Awards: Will Mark Henry Win Superstar of the Year?

The WWE Slammy Awards are just a few hours away. It will be a special three-hour episode of Raw, and a few "honors" will be given out for the past year. I am actually very interested in seeing how the night goes.

Do not forget that this is also the final Raw before this Sunday's WWE TLC event.

The only items announced are who will win WWE Superstar of the Year and a huge match in Mark Henry vs. John Cena. Wow! Pretty huge match right before a PPV show...

The nominees to win WWE Superstar of the Year are as follows:

Mark Henry

John Cena

CM Punk

Randy Orton

Albero Del Rio

The Miz

Honestly, I could see any of the wrestlers named winning. Each has a case for winning the award, some more than others.

Right now, I am just going to focus on Henry because he has the smallest chance of picking up a statue tonight on Raw.

He is a heel, so his chances automatically get cut in half. Yes, Chris Jericho won the award a few years ago, but it was a rare occasion.

Secondly, WWE is trying to convince people that voting from fans count. Sorry, but I give that about a oner percent chance of being real. I won't even get into that issue.

Finally, I am not even sure Henry should win.

That is coming from me! The man on his bandwagon from the beginning. The man who told you all his dominance was coming. The man repeatedly saying John Morrison was leaving WWE.

I am not even sold on Henry winning WWE Superstar of the Year. That says a lot.

Who are my other candidates? Well, Miz has a great story. He won in the main event of WrestleMania. That is enough to warrant a win.

Alberto Del Rio also won the WWE title twice. He won the Royal Rumble. He also won a Money in the Bank ladder match. Not much you can argue against there.

I already have covered Henry many times and his amazing year.

John Cena had his usual spectacular year. I have said it once, and I will again. What this man is doing for the company will never be appreciated...until he is retired. You won't know what you have until it is gone.

The popular choice is CM Punk winning tonight. Honestly, he shouldn't. His first half of the year was average at best. The second half was great. Nobody is going to argue that. If we are going the past 12 months, he is not even in the discussion.

Finally, Randy Orton rounds out the list. If I had the sole vote, it is between Henry and Orton. Mr. RKO has had such an amazing year it is unreal to believe.

Remember, it is the past 12 months, not the last couple months. Remember that when you give out your awards. Having a great fall season does not make up for the entire year, folks. Now, what will happen tonight on Raw?

As I mentioned earlier, a face is likely to get the award. That would be fine with me. Punk or Cena seems like the safe option for WWE. However, in my mind, it is easily between Henry and Orton. Nobody else comes close this past year. Nobody.
