WWE TLC: Top 5 Gimmick Matches WWE Must Turn into PPVs

Donald WoodDec 12, 2011

The WWE TLC pay-per-view has the fans excited about gimmick shows again. It’s time for the WWE to capitalize on this frenzy.

Instead of terrible shows with no reason of being there like Bragging Rights, Capitol Punishment and Over the Limit, WWE needs to go retro.

Like a Gumby hair cut, these gimmick matches aren’t cool all the time, but when done once a year in a tasteful way, these matches could be great for fans.

The WWE has to remember it’s all about the fans and start giving us the gimmick matches and PPVs that we don’t even know we want.

The following are the gimmick PPVs I would install if the WWE ever allows me to run the show. Enjoy!

Check back for more on World Wrestling Entertainment as it comes, and check out Bleacher Report’s WWE Page to get your fill of all things wrestling. For more on WWE/TNA, check out Ring Rust Radio for all of the hot topics.

War Games PPV

1 of 5

Whatever you call this match, it needs to consist of two rings right next to each other. With a cage over both, fans' heads will be pounding and hearts will be racing to watch all of the action going on.

The problem here is that this is a WCW creation and Vince McMahon hates using WCW ideas for shows. My solution? Change the name to Vinsanity, and he can’t help but love it.

This would be a great solution to the WWE denial of using Survivor Series-type team matches on a more regular basis. They are fun to watch and get more stars prime PPV time.

Buried Alive PPV

2 of 5

This is another classic that hasn’t been used in too long because of the lack of work by both the Undertaker and Kane over the last few months. That’s why they should make it a once-off PPV.

You could do variations of this match: buried alive match, casket match or last ride match would all be fun for the fans to watch. The main event would have to be amazing, though.

The only way to make this one off PPV a success would be to have Undertaker fight Kane one last time in an epic career-ending loss to Undertaker. There would be no better way for his character to die off.

Raw Roulette PPV

3 of 5

The Raw Roulette or Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal match is an idea that WWE has used in the past, but has steered away from it over the last few years.

It consists of the participants spinning a wheel of chance to decide the stipulation for their match. This is something that also could be chosen by the fans as well.

The WWE is missing on the opportunity to get the fans involved like they did with Cyber Sunday, but they could still do it through my PPV ideas. Imagine every PPV stipulation done right before each match.

Parking Lot PPV

4 of 5

WWE doesn’t fight in the parking lot enough anymore, and I have a solution for the people who are fiending for a fix of that back lot brawl. A whole PPV of it.

Just have and extreme rules show with every match taking place in a parking lot or a boiler room, just somewhere that is extreme and out of the ordinary.

Imagine CM Punk fighting the Miz in a scaffolding match on the side of a building. It’s got such an underground feel to it that the WWE couldn’t help but hate this idea.

Kennel from Hell PPV

5 of 5

In honor of quite possibly the greatest gimmick match ever to grace the eyes of your truly, I would dedicate one night to a PPV full of Kennel from Hell matches.

For those who don’t remember the mastery that was the Kennel from Hell match, imagine it as a steel cage inside a Hell in a Cell filled with ferocious dogs. Absolutely terrifying in theory.

While the action was not nearly as interesting as it was supposed to be, I love the idea of a steel cage match inside a hell in a cell. If the WWE could do this in a way that isn’t as crazy as this match, it would be a hit.
