Stevie Johnson Injury: Updates on Bills Star's Week 15 Status and Fantasy Value

Donald WoodDec 12, 2011

The Buffalo Bills have taken their downfall to epic proportions with another blowout loss this week against the San Diego Chargers. Their star receiver may be feeling the ill will of the loss as well.

Stevie Johnson was seen holding his hand after yesterday’s game, giving inclination that there may be damage to the hand. Johnson’s press conference after the game only fueled the speculation fire.

There was serious concern coming out of the Bills last game that star wide receiver Stevie Johnson would be questionable for this week’s game against the Dolphins.

"

I think he’ll be fine. They tried to explain it to me, I don’t understand it but they said they can tape it and it will be just fine.

"

Fantasy owners were living on the edge after watching the receiver go for 116 yards in the first week of the fantasy playoffs. The good news is that it looks like he will not miss this week’s game and looks like a safe start.

What They're Saying

"

I don’t know what happened. I don’t know if it was dislocated or anything, but every time I make a fist, there’s something with like a nerve or something. But we’ll see what it is. I don’t know.

"

NFL writer Adam Levitan is reporting on twitter:

Fantasy Impact

Stevie Johnson finally had a monster day through the air, and he could be sidelined with a hurt hand. While both David Nelson and Brad Smith viable options in deeper leagues if Johnson doesn’t play, they are not useful in most standard leagues.

Who's the Backup?

With Stevie Johnson likely to be limited in practice this week, there is a good chance he could miss the upcoming game against Miami if the Bills are trying to play it safe with their star. That means David Nelson and Brad Smith will need to step up and make the team win a game for a change.

Devastation Scale (10 out of 10)

There was a time this season where people honestly thought the Buffalo Bills had a chance to do real damage in the AFC East. With Johnson possibly missing time, the nightmare has a chance to end with just total wins. The nightmare is on full blast.
