DeMarco Murray Injury: How is Dallas Cowboys Star's Ankle?

Ryan RudnanskyDec 11, 2011

It doesn't look good for Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray after injuring his right ankle against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Murray, who injured his ankle after an awkward tackle, had to be taken to the locker room after the injury kept him on the field for several minutes and reports after the game could mean he misses the rest of the season.

Per ESPN, Murray suffered a high ankle fracture and a high ankle sprain in Sunday's game, which could potentially be season-ending.

The injury happened when Giants defensive end Dave Tollefson twisted Murray to the ground, falling on his right ankle in the process.

When's He Ready To Return?

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports seems to think Murray is out for the season, which is probably accurate:

Fantasy Impact

Murray had become a nice pickup in most leagues, averaging nearly 10 fantasy points per game headed into Sunday's matchup.

In his absence, Felix Jones will become a starter. With Murray out on Sunday, Jones had a huge game, rushing for over 100 yards.

Jones can also help out in the receiving department, so he's especially valuable in PPR leagues.

Jones should be a nice flex option from here on out and may even become a nice No. 2 running back.

What They're Saying

Tweeted user Kevin DeShazo:

Even Philadelphia Eagles fans felt sorry for Murray, highlighting his respect throughout the league:
