Khan vs. Peterson: King Khan Deserves Rematch After Being Robbed Last Night

Tim KeeneyDec 11, 2011

Amir Khan was the better fighter during his bout with Lamont Peterson last night. Yet, for some reason, the judges thought otherwise.

It's as simple as that.

Peterson's story serves as a heart-warming one, sure, but it shouldn't have happened.

There was lots of good action during this fight and it was all started off when Khan knocked Peterson down twice in just the first round.

Only one of those was marked as an official knockdown, however.

Then, in a battle where one point was going to mean the difference, Khan lost one for pushing Peterson.

"

"I knew it would be tough against him in his home town and this is why boxing has not been in Washington DC for 20 years—because you get a decision like that," said Khan after the fight. "I thought he was going to headbutt me, that’s why I pushed him."

"

I believe Khan, who lost on two judges' scorecards, 113-112, was robbed of this fight. I don't necessarily believe the fact it was fought in Peterson's hometown had anything to do with it, however.

Still though, if those two very questionable calls go the other way, Khan is the easy winner. Heck, he should still probably be the winner without those calls going his way.

But hey, what's done is done. These things happen. The only place to go from here?

A rematch.

There may be talks of Khan going on to face one of the big boys in Welterweight like Pacquiao or Mayweather, but Khan needs to do this first.

He needs to settle the score after this controversial decision.

And as for Peterson, why not?

This was a big fight and it made a lot of money for him. It was a had-fought fight, an exciting fight and—best of all—a controversial fight.

A rematch would only gain more steam and viewership. A rematch possibly has a shot for Pay-Per View.

A rematch, especially after last night's decision, is the only direction to go for both of these men.

"I would definitely give him a rematch," said Peterson. "He gave me a chance, and it was a good fight. Why not?"
