Penn State Scandal: Mike McQueary's Inconsistencies Will Doom Sandusky Case
The scandal that wouldn't go away keeps getting darker and more disturbing at every possible turn. Penn State just hopes for any kind of respite from Jerry Sandusky or anything involving his name. The new version of Mike McQueary's story is not likely to give the university a breather.
In a detailed report by Sara Ganim of the Patriot-News, Dr. Jonathan Dranov testified to a grand jury that McQueary heard noises coming from a shower and that a young boy saw McQueary's face.
"According to the source with knowledge of Dranov’s testimony before the grand jury, it went like this:
McQueary heard "sex sounds" and the shower running, and a young boy stuck his head around the corner of the shower stall, peering at McQueary as an adult arm reached around his waist and pulled him back out of view.
Seconds later, Sandusky left the shower in a towel.
--snip--
McQueary says the pair turned and looked at him before he left.
However, Dranov told grand jurors that he asked McQueary three times if he saw anything sexual, and three times McQueary said no, according to the source.
"
In his original testimony, McQueary said that he notified then-Penn State football coach Joe Paterno about what he saw going on in the shower between Sandusky and a young boy, but did not alert the authorities.
Shortly after that, in another report from Sara Ganim, McQueary wrote in an e-mail that he did stop Sandusky from sexually assaulting a young boy and told police about it.
Now, with this new story out there, it becomes harder and harder to take McQueary seriously as a witness in this whole fiasco.
If Sandusky's lawyer, Joe Amendola, is any good at his job, he can get McQueary's testimony thrown out because he keeps changing his stories.
That would be a huge deal for this case, because McQueary is the key witness, and if he doesn't know what he saw, or can't get straight what he saw, it would be very difficult for him to sit in front of a jury and have them take anything he says seriously.
This whole thing is a disaster of epic proportions, and it just keeps getting worse and worse with each passing day.
