Tim Tebow and 4 NFL Players the Media Is Simply Obsessed with
We all knew that Tebow was going to be at the top of headlines when he came into the NFL, but the amount of attention Tebow gets from the media is simply over the top. Has a 7-5 team ever gotten more publicity in the history of sports?
The worst part about Tebow-mania is how it detracts attention from other players who are helping the Broncos win—guys like Von Miller, Elvis Dumervil and Willis McGahee are all playing at extremely high levels and are as much if not more of the reason why the Broncos find themselves in playoff contention.
Here are four other players the media can't get enough of.
Mark Sanchez
1 of 4When you combine the boastfulness of Rex Ryan and the scrutiny of the New York media market, you see an incredible amount of scrutiny on the Jets quarterback.
When he is playing well, everyone in New York (except for Giants fans) falls in love with the kid.
However, when things turn for the worse, every talking head in the media is ready to jump down his throat for not progressing as well as everyone thought he would.
Everything Sanchez does, good or bad, is looked at through a microscope.
Ndamukong Suh
2 of 4When Suh exploded onto the scene in his rookie year, he was already being talked about as the next great player at the defensive tackle position.
For all the attention he gets, when you actually watch Suh on tape, he has not played anywhere near that level of play so far this season.
For all of his talent, Suh is lousy against the run, because he is so aggressive that he often loses containment.
Unfortunately for Suh, the buzz surrounding him has turned sour, and he has himself to blame for that.
Tom Brady
3 of 4Between the hairstyle changes and the supermodel wife, Brady is constantly under scrutiny of the media.
During the Patriots' midseason "slump" when they lost two games in a row, there started to be talk about whether the Patriots' "window" was closing and if we have seen the best of Brady.
Of course, just one win later, Brady is back to being Brady, at least according to the media.
Cam Newton
4 of 4One of the most intriguing quarterback prospects to ever come out of the draft (next to Mr. Tebow, of course), Newton has been the most talked-about rookie, despite being on a losing team.
The media's love affair with Newton began when his first two starts included 400-yard performances.
His physical talents as a runner and passer have those in the media in love with his potential and how he could possibly change the way the position is viewed in the future.
