NBA Trade Rumors: Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose Would Create New Bulls Dynasty

Nicholas GossDec 11, 2011

The Chicago Bulls are interested in trading for Dwight Howard, according to the Chicago Tribune, and if Superman and Derrick Rose join forces, they will create a new Bulls dynasty that will dominate the NBA.

The Bulls can not only offer the Orlando Magic the best trade package for their superstar center, but the best fit for Howard in Chicago.

Chicago could offer a package of talent for Howard including players such as centers Joakim Noah and Omer Asik and forwards Luol Deng and Taj Gibson. The Bulls can also trade draft picks to the Magic.

The great depth the Bulls have on their roster allows them to give up a lot for Howard and still remain an elite NBA team.

Rose is the reigning NBA MVP and it was clear in the playoffs last year that he needed another scorer to help take some of the offensive burden off of him.

The Bulls appear to be close to signing Rip Hamilton, who was bought out of his Detroit Pistons contract.

Howard would not only take some of the scoring burden off Rose, he would dominate defensively. Howard has won three straight Defensive Player of the Year awards and would fit in perfectly in Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau's defense-first style of play.

With Howard, the Bulls would have the best PG/C combo in the NBA, which is important because those are the two most important positions in basketball.

There would be no stopping a Rose-Howard duo. Howard is the only center in the league that can dominate at both ends of the floor every night and he and Rose would work very well together.

Rose is great at driving to the basket and scoring at the rim. With Howard in the paint, defenses will be hesitant to leave him and help stop Rose getting to the hoop. If they do help, Rose will dish it to Howard for an easy slam dunk.

The Bulls would also benefit from Howard's interior presence regarding their outside shooting. Teams won't rush out to the three-point line quickly to close down Chicago sharpshooters Kyle Korver and Keith Bogans when doing so would leave Howard open or matched up one-on-one in the paint.

Howard would make the Bulls offense much more dangerous and would make his teammates' jobs easier because defenses will be forced to pay so much attention to where he is on the floor at all times.

Noah is a quality center who brings tremendous effort and energy to the Bulls, but he is not close to Howard's talent defensively or offensively.

The Bulls have been hesitant to deal the young center since drafting him, but for a player like Howard, it is a move Chicago would be foolish not to make.

Rose and Howard would dominate the NBA together and create a new Chicago dynasty that would have as much success as Michael Jordan's two three-peat Bulls teams in the 1990s.
