Robert Griffin III Video: Watch an Ode to Baylor QB's Heisman-Winning Season

Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin had a tremendous season and it finished the best way an individual campaign can by winning the 2011 Heisman Trophy. The junior became the first Bears player to win college football's most prestigious award.

Griffin finished the season with nearly 4,000 yards passing and added 600 more on the ground. It's that dual-threat ability which caused opposing defensive coordinators to have nightmares about RGIII torching them with relative ease.

He improved by leaps and bounds when it came to decision-making. That's why his numbers took a big enough jump to warrant consideration from Heisman voters, who ultimately decided his season was better than any other player's in America.

Perhaps we should have seen this breakout coming after he torched a solid TCU team for 359 yards and five touchdowns in the season opener.

However, it took several more weeks before Griffin took hold of the national conscious. He put up eye-popping numbers on a weekly basis, including six games with at least four touchdowns, and helped Baylor to a 9-3 record.

The team's only losses came on the road against Kansas State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. If you are going to have losses on your résumé, those aren't bad ones to have.

It's rare to find such a complete package at the quarterback position. Even Andrew Luck, who finished as the runner-up, praised Griffin's season during the telecast after the winner was announced. When your peers recognize your season, you know you've accomplished something special.
