Jones vs. Machida Results: Dennis Hallman Proves He's Got a Title Run Left
Dennis Hallman showed he still has what it takes to claim a title. He easily took down John Makdessi at UFC 140 on Saturday to win his 51st professional fight.
The Fight
Hallman turned his battle against Makdessi into about as one-sided a match as you'll ever see. He clinched up his opponent quickly, and from that point, it was over.
The two fell to the mat, and Hallman landed some blows while going for the choke. It took him a few moments to get that choke, but he did, and the fight ended at 2:58 in the first round.
Hallman's Resume
Hallman is 36 years old. He is a former state champion wrestler. His biggest claim to fame is two first-round victories over legend Matt Hughes.
The second led to him getting a shot at the UFC lightweight title against Jens Pulver. He lost the fight in a unanimous decision.
Hallman continued to fight and was out of the UFC for a period. He returned to the UFC on August 7th, 2010 and is now 3-1 since returning.
The Final Nail in the Coffin
Hallman showed everyone that his grappling is still elite. If he can get inside on a fighter he can. He was supremely conditioned for this fight and looked quick and agile. He clearly has something left in the tank.
Hallman will likely need to notch another couple of victories before he gets a title shot, but there's not a fighter around that he's not currently capable of beating.
