WWE TLC 2009: Top 5 Moments from Sheamus' Big Night
WWE TLC is only one week away, and you can feel the excitement in the air! It is sure to be a great show that will leave many fans breathless. What is not to be forgotten, however, is the history of TLC.
It began as a match. It created many memories. Eventually, it became its own PPV event. All of this started two years ago, and it was a night nobody would ever forget...
5. Drew Mcintyre Beats John Morrison
1 of 5This was the beginning of the end for John Morrison. Not only for his WWE career, but in terms of myself being a fan. He had his big move to Smackdown in 2009 and did nothing with it. Same moves. Same promos. Same spot.
It was clear that his time in the spotlight was over, and too many people were moving right past him. Great talents like Drew, Cody, Ted, Sheamus, Miz, Kofi, and the soon to be NXT guys were all new and had already made more of an impact.
On this night, it was Drew's turn to strike gold.
He defeated Morrison in a nice match to become the new Intercontinental champion. The "Chosen One" had finally become a big name in the company, and his future looked great!
4. Randy Orton Beats Kofi Kingston
2 of 5Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston had a great feud during this time frame. Both men looked strong, and the matches were top notch.
Sadly, one guy just couldn't maintain the steam WWE gave him. Thus, it was clear that Orton had to go over and move on to bigger and better things.
That was the correct decision. Kofi will get another chance at the top of the card. No doubt. I am a fan of his, but it was very apparent now was not the time...
3. Christian and Shelton Have a Great Ladder Match
3 of 5This match was for the ECW title, and both performed in very grand fashion. In what may have been the match of the night, each guy proved their worth in ladder matches.
Christian (rightfully) won the match, but Shelton once again looked great in this atmosphere. It is a shame he never did get shine outside of a select few ladder matches. Oh well!
These two had an epic ladder match, and I remember it to this day. Take away the "blood stoppage" half way through the match, and you have a classic on your hands.
2. DX Wins the Tag Team Titles
4 of 5This was a TLC match for the tag team titles. It was Shawn Michaels and Triple H versus Chris Jericho and Big Show.
Again, these guys all had a wonderful feud to close 2009. This was the highlight of their series of matches. DX finally won the tag team titles together, and it was a great moment for the San Antonio crowd!
Outside of Jericho, all four men were fairly new to a TLC environment. It didn't matter. They all performed like the future WWE Hall of Famers they are. Amazing job!
1. Sheamus Is the New WWE Champion
5 of 5Remember two years ago when everybody (not me, of course) hated Sheamus? Remember all the uproar over his push to the moon? The constant remarks over working out with Triple H?
Yeah.
Sheamus defeated John Cena in a Tables match for the WWE title, and all was right with the world! Very few moments can make you sit and watch a WWE show in awe. This was one of them.
As I mentioned earlier, a new wave of talent was arriving, and Sheamus was the perfect man to lead the charge (along with Miz). Sheamus was now the WWE Champion, and it happened at WWE TLC 2009!
