UFC 140: 5 Reasons PPV is Worth the Cash

Luis BatlleDec 10, 2011

Saturday night, UFC 140 will be under way, as some of the better fighters will be put to the test in Toronto, Onatrio.

The night is headlined but a Jon Jones and Lyoto Machida fight that will be one for the ages. The matchup between "Bones" and "The Dragon" alone will make this night worthwhile.

Here are five other reasons why UFC 140 PPC is worth the case.

Mir and Noguiera a Better Fight Than Given Credit For

Many, including Bleacher Report Featured Columnist Kyle Symes, believe that this fight may have the makings to be a more entertaining one than the Machida vs. Jones bout.

Mir is one of the better fighters today, and crushed Noguiera in their first encounter.

Expect Mir to win this one, but don't count out Noguiera in this fight. Noguiera comes into the fight on a one-win streak.

Machida and Jones Expected To Be a Hard-Fought Fight

Machida is arguably one of the best fighters that the sport has. Meanwhile, Jones is also recognized along with the best, as he is 14-1 for his career.

Jones is just 24 years of age, as the young talent has suffered just one loss, which came back in 2009 to Matt Hamill.

Machida, at 33, is 17-2 for his career. The sport's top-notch fighter will have his hands full with the young talent, as this should make for quite the entertaining bout.

Brian Ebersole and Claude Patrick Showdown Set To Be Quite the Bout

The American talent Brian Ebersole takes on Claude Patrick, who is 14-1 and on a 13-match win streak.

It is a story of win streaks on the line in this one, as Ebersole has a nine-match win streak of his own.

Something to consider: despite the experience Ebersole boasts, having participated in over 50 matches, Patrick has only lost one match his entire career and it came as a result of a decision.

Expect this fight to be a special one to say the least.

Mark Hominick vs. Chang Sung Jung

Jung, otherwise known as the "Korean Zombie," is one heck of a fighter and puts his 11-3 record to the test against the 20-9 Hominick.

Record wise, Jung is the clear favorite. Yet Hominick is an especially quick fighter that has won five of his last six matches.

Despite being the slight favorite in this one, Jung will have his hands full to say the least.

The Main Card is Makes for an Exciting Set of Matchups

All in all, the above four matches make for some of the better fights this year in UFC. UFC 140 has some interesting, intriguing matches, with Lyoto and Jones leading the way.

It is a main card that could well have Hominick and Jung being the most intriguing fight of all of them. The fact that these matchups are so even and have the makings to be exciting ones makes UFC 140 PPV all the  more worthwhile.
