UFC 140 Predictions: Mark Hominick vs. Chan Sung Jung
In what many fans are considering a potential Fight of the Night winner at UFC 140, Mark "The Machine" Hominick takes on "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung in a featherweight bout.
Hominick is fighting for the first time since challenging champion Jose Aldo for the title in April while Jung is coming off an impressive showing against rival Leonard Garcia.
If Jung wanted to play it smart, he'd attempt to wrestle Hominick to the ground where Jung is likely to have the advantage in this fight.
Hominick has lost by submission five times in his career and his ground game isn't as strong as his striking game.
If Jung can't get the fight to the ground, look for Hominick to put on a striking clinic.
Although Jung's striking is very fan-friendly, it isn't technical at all. He likes to throw looping hooks and leaves himself open for a counter strike all the time.
Hominick is one of the best strikers in the featherweight division and has crisp, technical kickboxing. If Jung leaves even the slightest opening, Hominick will take advantage of it.
If we want a preview of how the bout will look like, take a glance at Jung's fight against another Shawn Tompkins product, George Roop.
In their matchup, Jung's wild striking proved no match for Roop and he was floored by a head kick in the second round.
This fight will look much similar to that, but instead of Roop's length and kicks doing the damage, it will be Hominick standing in the pocket and evading Jung's wild strikes.
Prediction: Mark Hominick def. Chan Sung Jung via KO (Round 2).
