Heisman Trophy 2011: Describing Each of the Five Finalists in 50 Words or Less
Later tonight, one of these five finalists will join an exclusive club and earn college football's top award. Tonight, Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck, Montee Ball, Trent Richardson and Tyrann Mathieu will all be hoping that their name is announced as the 77th winner of the award.
With college football's regular season behind us, each of these players had an outstanding season that put them in the position that they are in tonight.
While we could go on and on about each player and the reasons why they should win the Heisman, here is a description of each finalist in 50 words or less.
Robert Griffin III
1 of 5Robert Griffin is an amazing passer, who has terrific touch and can make all of the passes. When the pass is not there, he also has the ability to make plays with his legs and make a defense pay for having their back turned to him.
Andrew Luck
2 of 5Andrew Luck is a surgeon and was NFL-ready last year. Luck is like having an offensive coordinator on the field. He has an amazing ability to read defenses and make the best play available. To make things worse, Luck can not only throw but can take off and run.
Montee Ball
3 of 5It's not often you see a player with a nose for the end zone like Montee Ball. Ball has great size and strength, and if you let him get into the open field, he will make you pay. Behind the Wisconsin offensive line, he has been virtually unstoppable.
Trent Richardson
4 of 5Any question that was asked about Trent Richardson's ability to carry the load alone and be the main back was answered this year. Richardson is a marvelous blend of strength and speed, and he proved he could be the workhorse in the Alabama backfield.
Tyrann Mathieu
5 of 5I am sure there are a lot of ways teams in the SEC would describe Tyrann Mathieu, but those wouldn't be suitable for some readers' eyes. The honey badger is tenacious and a game-changer in every sense of the term. Both on defense and special teams, Mathieu is special.
