WWE Smackdown Results: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Justin WatryDec 9, 2011

WWE Smackdown was a quality show this week. It featured a lot of nice build for the WWE TLC next weekend, but it did not do too much at the same time. My "grade" for the night would be a B. With that being said, let's dive into the Blue Brand from tonight!

Note: I will not be discussing the diva's match that was cut from the Smackdown broadcast. It never aired, thus it never happened in the WWE Universe.

The Good

First, I want to welcome back Lilian Garcia! It is always nice to see her, and I look forward to watching her announce each and every week.

Next, I really enjoyed the opening match. Wade Barrett defeated Big Zeke in a nice match, and it was actually pretty fun for seven minutes. The winner was never in doubt, but both men did a great job in setting the tone for the next two hours.

Also, Cody Rhodes and Booker T are having a good back-and-forth feud right now. It is not "too one-sided," and both guys are remaining credible at the same time. Great work from each man!

Another match I liked was Zack Ryder beating Heath Slater with little effort. Ryder got a nice win, wasn't very goofy and looked good tonight. That is how I want him to act more often...seriously bro!

Mark Henry and Big Show had yet another amazing confrontation! I can't tell you how impressed I am with both men the past few weeks, especially Mark Henry. He continues to be the best man on WWE TV, and he is NEVER, ever losing his World title!

Sheamus picked up a clean win over David Otunga. I am a fan of these two wrestlers, and the upside to each is amazing. I've loved watching their progression in the past year. Both have so much potential in WWE it is unreal. Special props to Hornswoggle for doing a great job as ring announcer here!

The main event was a nice way to end the program. Randy Orton defeated Dolph Ziggler in an entertaining match, just beating the time of Barrett's win. Thus, Orton got to pick what type of match they would have at TLC. Well, Mr. RKO put Dolph through a table with a nice power bomb. Seems like a tables match is coming...Works for me!

Another small mention goes out to Aksana and Teddy Long! They have so much chemistry on screen, and it was very funny to see her at a loss words for a change tonight.

The Bad

Ted DiBiase picked up another win, and I still do not care. Jinder Mahal losing is always nice to see, but I had no emotion for this contest. Teddy has a great future, but it just is not clicking with me right now! Sorry.

The Ugly

Michael Cole is right!

Daniel Bryan continues to look like a hypocrite and is offering zero defense of himself. I liked his match with Cody, but it did nothing for either guy. I also LOVE Bryan being stuck in the mid-card right now. That needs to continue for the next few months. Then he can be ready for his big Mania push!

However, WWE needs to treat him like a legitimate face for now. Give him some credibility one of these shows! If he is going to turn heel, I understand his terrible "booking" the past month. On the flip side, if Bryan is staying face, this is a disaster. He needs to save his character and fast!

REMINDER: I am now on Twitter @JustinWatry! I give every new follower a special shout out, so do not be shy...thanks.
