Week 14 Start Em Sit Em: Matt Hasselbeck and Others To Bench
I don't care whether it's the first week of the regular season or the opening weekend of your fantasy football league playoffs, there is always a group of guys you can't start.
After looking at the most recent trends and matchups, I give to you Week 14's crop of benchwarmers.
Don't even think about dragging these guys into a starting spot this weekend.
Matt Hasselbeck
1 of 3Hasselbeck is having an extremely efficient and possibly even a Pro Bowl-worth season in 2011.
But now that it seems like Chris Johnson is back to his typical form, Hasselbeck's viability as a fantasy quarterback is diminishing.
He hasn't eclipsed the double-digit mark in fantasy points over the last three weeks and you better believe the Titans' coaching staff will be looking to keep CJ2K's moment going against the Saints this weekend.
I know you're probably thinking the Saints will get out to a big lead, forcing Hasselbeck to throw it often, but he's simply not a safe start this week and in the playoffs you can't afford a down day from your signal-caller.
Steven Jackson
2 of 3Jackson hasn't run for more than 64 yards since a 128-yard outburst in Week 10 and he hasn't scored a rushing touchdown since the Rams' stunning victory over the Saints the day before Halloween.
In his first meeting with the Seahawks defense, he totaled just 42 yards on 15 carries.
There's a good chance St. Louis will be starting a practice squad guy for the Monday night affair in Seattle.
Think he'll get a ton of loaded boxes?
Yes.
To the bench.
Dwayne Bowe
3 of 3Bowe has held up relatively well as a fantasy receiver despite the situation in Kansas City this season, but there are many reasons he shouldn't be moved into any starting lineup this weekend.
He hasn't caught a touchdown pass in seven straight games and he makes a trip to Revis Island on Sunday.
Bowe doesn't exactly have the best quarterback throwing to him, either, and you better believe Rex Ryan is going to throw a variety of zone, corner and safety blitzes at Tyler Palko throughout.
