WWE Rumors: WWE Announcer Gone from WWE, Does Not Re-Sign

Justin WatryDec 9, 2011

This is a little bit of unexpected news. However, at the same time, it is not shocking.

According to this report, Jack Korpela has decided not to renew his WWE contract and has left the company.

For those unaware, he had been doing some announcing work on WWE NXT and WWE Superstars recently. The report, linked here, has not been confirmed by WWE, so believe what you want!

My thoughts on this rumor?

Honestly, I never had a problem with the guy. I remember many times watching the pre-show for WWE PPV events and watching him hype it up big time.

He never stood out above the rest of the young announcers that WWE had over the years, but I always enjoyed his work. He and Scott Stanford worked very well together a number of times, and I still like Scott as a potential lead announcer for Raw or SmackDown.

They may not be the next Jim Ross or Jerry Lawler, but they did a fine job of announcing together. Scott has a bright future ahead of him.

As for what Jack Korpela will be remembered for best in his time with WWE? I honestly can't tell you. He was a good, fresh, young announcer who seemed very knowledgeable about the product. You can't really ask for much more than that!

I am not going to cry over his rumored departure, but I do hope to see him announce again someday in WWE. He was a very underrated man working for the "other shows" for the company, and his work will not be forgotten.

I wish Jack Korpela well in his future endeavors.
