WrestleMania 28: Dream Card

John NizinskiDec 9, 2011

WrestleMania 28 has the potential to be one of the biggest and best WWE pay-per-views of all time—if done correctly.  There has been a good rise in young talent in the past several months and also an interest in former WWE stars returning to the company.

This could all lead to many possible story line directions.

Here are some matches that could breathe some much-needed life into the company and be interesting for all WWE fans.

IC Championship Match: (Champion) Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett

1 of 9

The WWE has started making both the Intercontinental and U.S Championships relevant again with current title-holders Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler.

A possible feud between Sheamus and Cody Rhodes could deliver some exciting and memorable matches ending with Sheamus taking over the Intercontinental Championship.  This will help boost Cody Rhodes into the World Heavyweight picture for awhile and also give Sheamus a direction he seems to need right now.

There is still plenty of time from now until WrestleMania to develop a feud between two rising stars in the company—Sheamus and Wade Barrett.

These two superstars are poised to be the future of the company and are very similar.  They both are from a European country, they both burst onto the scene and made big impacts early in their career and both have impressive physiques.

This feud could be over who is the best young star in the WWE and/or a battle between two countries (England vs. Ireland).

Bring Back the Money in the Bank

2 of 9

This is more of a personal preference and I know Money in the Bank has its own PPV now, but some of the most memorable matches I remember from previous WrestleManias are MITB matches.

There has been a nice wave of new talent in the WWE, and there is not enough time to give everyone individual matches.  Plus, a simple eight-man tag match is not as exciting as an eight-man ladder match.

The Money in the Bank match would include many popular superstars all hungry for a shot at the briefcase—Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Zack Ryder, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Cody Rhodes, Christian and Alex Riley in particular.

As a side note, I think Kofi Kingston should go into this match having already changed his character to be more intense and determined.  With an altered character, Kofi can get the push he deserves and deliver some intense and impressive matches, and he should win this match.

Diva's Championship Match: (Champ) Beth Phoenix vs. Natalya/Karma/Chyna

3 of 9

Beth Phoenix is the right person to hold the Diva's Championship.  However, the competition for her in the Divas division is lacking almost as much as the interest in the Divas division among the WWE universe.

There are three potential challengers that will not only give the "Glamazon" a challenge but also stir some interest in the match.

1. Natalya is the more probable match than the other two. Currently, Natalya and Beth Phoenix are apart of the Divas of Doom and both are on a mission to end the era of the "cute" and "perky" Divas division.  As Beth is eliminating all other competitors, the only Diva left to challenge her for the belt would be her partner, Natalya.

2. A match with Karma depends on her availability after maternity leave.  Karma was poised to plow through the Divas division but then got knocked up.  She is clearly the most unique Diva and could open up her own "Hall of Pain" filled with other Divas, leaving Beth Phoenix until the end.

3. A match with Chyna is a stretch, but apparently Chyna has been contacting the WWE in order to make a return to the company.  Beth Phoenix is today's version of Chyna, and this match would be interesting as it would between the two Divas with the most impressive physiques.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Fatal 4-Way

4 of 9

This Fatal 4-Way match would be (champion) Mark Henry vs. Big Show vs. Randy Orton vs. (Royal Rumble winner) Daniel Bryan.

This match hinders on the success of Daniel Bryan and the push he is given by the company.  I think if done right, Daniel Bryan could win the Royal Rumble and be given a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania.

But due to certain stipulations, it will turn into a Fatal 4-Way match.  Also, Daniel Bryan will still have his Money in the Bank briefcase.

This match will include Mark Henry and Big Show, who have delivered surprisingly (because of their size and lack of speed) very exciting matches over the past few PPVs.

Randy Orton being pushed back into the championship picture is inevitable because of his popularity, and having him in this match will make it exciting and push the tempo.

Now for the winner—Daniel Bryan should win this match, and it will not be the last you see of him in the show.

Passing of the Torch Match: Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara

5 of 9

This match is an obvious draw that the WWE universe wants to see.

Rey Mysterio is on the back end of his career, and Sin Cara is taking over as the high-flying masked man.  Although Sin Cara has hit his speed bumps since joining the WWE this match still is a must and could deliver some of the most exciting moments ever and some never-before-seen moves.

NWO vs. DX

6 of 9

This match looked more promising heading into Survivor Series.  The return of Kevin Nash has caused mixed reviews and had potential to be monumental in the history of the WWE.

What should have happened?  Awesome Truth was becoming a destructive force that needed just a little more support to become a strong stable.  That support should have come from Kevin Nash and John Cena.

This is an opportune time for WWE to take advantage of the fact that other superstars are becoming just as popular as John Cena, and he is no longer needed as a baby face.  Cena's character has become stale to much of the WWE universe.  He should have pulled a Hulk Hogan-esque heel turn and joined NWO at Survivor Series.

Cena could have turned on Rock towards the end of the match and could have beaten down The Rock alongside Awesome Truth after the bell rang, leading to Kevin Nash to walk out to the ring and deliver NWO t-shirts to the three standing in the ring.

This could have then led to an ongoing feud between the new NWO and Triple H, causing the returns of DX with Shawn Michaels and X-Pac (or a new superstar) returning at WrestleMania.

The match would be NWO (Nash, Truth, and Miz) vs. DX (Triple H, HBK and either X-Pac or the new superstar).

How it could still happen—the feud between Nash and Triple H continues, HBK gets involved sometime soon and when R-Truth returns from his suspension, Nash recruits him.

After a few unsuccessful attempts at the WWE Championship by Miz, have Nash and Truth recruit Miz and reunite Awesome Truth by R-Truth not showing any remorse towards Miz.  This will help round out the new NWO.

I still think they could have Cena as the face of the new NWO and make him a heel going into his match against The Rock.

WWE Championship Match: (Champion) CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

7 of 9

This match depends on the new Jan. 2 mystery superstar promos.  There is a good chance it is Jericho and he could be coming back to start a feud with CM Punk.

Jericho has stated he will never wrestle for WWE again, but this could be a way to make his return all the more surprising.  There also has been some social media beef between Punk and Jericho, as Jericho has claimed Punk (among other superstars) has stolen moves from him.

This would be a match between "The Best in the World" and "The Best in the World At What He Does."

The match would feature two of the most skilled wrestling performers and deliver a strong performance for the WWE Championship match on the "grandest stage of them all."

Again, this depends on the development of Daniel Bryan.  It doesn't matter who wins this match, because Daniel Bryan will come out after and deliver briefcase shots to both of them, then cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and become the World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Champion.

This will lead to a nice three-way feud between these superstars.  Daniel Bryan is considered by some to be the most talented and best wrestler in the company today.  What better way to prove which superstar truly is "the best" than have them all feud with each other?

The Streak: Undertaker vs. Kane

8 of 9

Kane is drawing much attention from his new promos that are suggesting he is going back to the Masked Kane that made him so destructive.

I personally have been waiting for this since he took his mask off.  The masked Kane caused fear and destruction that the new unmasked Kane has lacked.

This match could easily be the last match of Undertaker's career and could be the last strong push that Kane is given.

What better way to honor these two icons' careers than having them wrestle one last memorable match against each other?  The history between Undertaker and Kane is as rich as any two superstars.

Their characters are brothers, they formed arguably the most dominant tag team ever in the "Brothers of Destruction," and they have delivered some of the most memorable matches and moments when facing off against each other.

While it is not likely, I still wouldn't rule out the possibility of the streak being snapped, only because the Undertaker has stated the streak is not that important to him.

Main Event: John Cena vs. The Rock

9 of 9

It is quite obvious the fans will back The Rock, no matter what. This makes it the opportune time to safely turn John Cena heel.

This feud started off with a lot of fire but has slowed down lately because of the lack of The Rock's appearances.  The verbal jabs between the two when The Rock first returned should continue ASAP and as often as possible to make the hype for this match through the roof.

Unless The Rock plans on actually coming back to the WWE on a short full-time basis, it makes no sense to let him win this match.  John Cena has put in so much to the company and does not deserve to be embarrassed and lose.

Plus, he will be there after this match whereas The Rock will most likely leave the WWE once again.
