NFL Week 14 Bold Picks Against the Spread: Four Underdogs That Are Ready to Bite
This week in the NFL, many teams are in must-win situations as they hope to hang on to any hope of making the playoffs. Many teams will go all out in an attempt to win, but in a league that is filled with parody, anything can happen.
On any given Sunday an NFL underdog can surprise a favorite and get the outright win. Here are four NFL underdogs that will be worth a look and could easily get the outright win.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals
1 of 4The San Francisco 49ers have clinched the weak NFC West. And although they are still playing for seeding in the playoffs, this is a potential letdown spot.
The Cardinals will have Kevin Kolb under center again and the Cards carry momentum into this game after the upset win against the Dallas Cowboys.
The tough 49ers defense will be without linebacker Patrick Willis, and that will be a tough void to fill. The 49ers are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games as a road favorite and just 7-23-4 ATS in their last 34 games following a win of more than 14 points.
This letdown spot will be the perfect opportunity for the Cardinals to get another win at home against a top team in the league.
Washington Redskins vs. New England Patriots
2 of 4The Patriots defense is horrible. The Patriots are dead last in total defense and have a problem holding any lead, which was on display last week against the Indianapolis Colts. Now they travel to Washington and have to attempt to get motivated to play a team out of conference.
The Redskins have a very impressive defense that ranks No. 8 in total defense, and this team has a realistic shot to win this game outright. The secret to the Redskins is the defensive pass rush that will be able to put pressure on Ton Brady in the pocket.
The Patriots injuries on offensive line and weakness on defense will be tough to make up for.
New Orleans Saints vs. Tennessee Titans
3 of 4The New Orleans Saints are coming off of two very good games, but those games were at home. Now they head on the road to play the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are still alive in the playoff race and have an outside shot at the AFC South divisional title.
The NFL betting trends show how poorly the Saints play on the road. The Saints are 3-8 against the spread (ATS) in their last 11 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games as a road favorite. The Titans are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games as a home underdog and 4-0 ATS in the last four games overall.
The Saints are just 3-3 on the road this year, including a loss to the lowly St. Louis Rams. The Titans have played well at home and have beaten quality teams like the Baltimore Ravens. The Titans have a very good shot of winning this game behind the rejuvenated Chris Johnson.
Tennessee Titans +3.5
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys
4 of 4The Sunday Night game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys is a pivotal battle in the NFC East.
The New York Giants have played the much tougher opposition of late and that will prepare them to do well for this game against the Cowboys. The Cowboys are inconsistent and coaching decisions in the clutch have cost them several games this year.
The Giants excel as one of the better road teams in the league and they are 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 games as an underdog getting between 0.5-3.0 points. The Cowboys are a miserable 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 games as a favorite and are on upset alert this week against the Giants.
In the NFL upsets can happen at any time, and week 14 will be no exception as these dogs are ready to bite!
