Chris Paul Trade Rumors: Lakers, Rockets, Hornets Appealing to Reverse Veto
Yesterday the Los Angeles Lakers, the Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Hornets agreed to a trade which was then killed by the NBA Commissioner, David Stern. Today the teams are appealing to the NBA to reverse that decision.
Marc Stein of ESPN tweets, "CP3 Trade Latest: Sources tell ESPN com that teams involved in three-team trade blocked by David Stern appealing to NBA to reverse decision."
So for those keeping score that means that yesterday, the NBA, as the owners of the Hornets, agreed to a change, then the NBA blocked the trade. Now the NBA is appealing to the NBA to reverse the decision of the NBA.
Of course this is all based on the fact that the NBA allowed the NBA to shop Chris Paul in the first place.
Anyone up for a game of Twister?
This has gone from impossible to possible to done to undone to silly. I thought the machinations were over!
If the NBA is acting on behest of the NBA as the owner of the Hornets they need to accept the trade and stop saying it's for "basketball reasons." If they are blocking the trade as the NBA then they have some serious explaining to do.
If the NBA is blocking the trade because of actual "basketball reasons" they need to explain what the reasons are.
If they don't have an explanation they need to reverse their earlier decision. Now's no time for the NBA to start worrying about giving a consistent message.
