Dwight Howard Trade Rumors: Why the New Jersey Nets Are the Ideal Destination
One trade involving one of the two NBA superstars who have dominated the news went down unsuccessfully last night. Chris Paul's status is in limbo at the moment, which leaves everyone to wonder exactly what will happen to Dwight Howard next.
Howard is the latest superstar to demand which team he gets traded to, and to everyone's surprise, it won't be the Los Angeles Lakers.
Instead Howard wants to be traded to the New Jersey Nets.
Unlike the attempted Paul trade, this one will be a good fit.
We saw the Nets' rumored offer last week that included Brook Lopez, a pair of first-round picks and the Nets taking Hedo Turkoglu's contract off the Magic.
For the Magic, it's a good fit.
Orlando gets a legit center to replace its superstar, two picks that should result in good players and financial flexibility. Compared to what the Hornets would have received for Paul, the Magic would make out much better for Howard.
For Howard, it's also a good fit.
The Nets have cap room at the moment so they can afford to make the deal and keep improving the team. Point guard Deron Williams would also be a lock to return to New Jersey, so Howard will get to play with the other superstar that he covets.
So while it's still a problem that the player is calling the shots, if this deal goes down then it seems to be a good fit all the way around.
