Week 14 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Seattle Seahawks and Sleeper Defenses You Must Start

Michael DixonDec 8, 2011

By now, we can reasonably predict what we're going to get from certain teams. Even if we get an upset, we know who's going to score points and who won't.

That's important to keep in mind when trying to figure out a fantasy defense to play. Now that you're in the playoffs, it's certainly time to maximize points.

These defenses will help you do that. Best of all, they're all available in a majority of ESPN leagues, so you can definitely grab them.

Seattle Seahawks

The Rams' quarterback situation is abysmal. Sam Bradford and A.J. Feeley are both banged up. If either of them play, their production will be down. The healthy option on the St. Louis roster is Tom Brandstater, and who wouldn't want to go against a team with that kind of situation?

On top of that, the Seattle defense is playing well recently. When they played the Rams in Week 11, they allowed only seven points and forced three turnovers.

This game is in Seattle, where the Seahawks are a much better team. They're owned in more than 60 percent of ESPN leagues, so they're by far the best sleeper defense. But in reality, this is just one of the top defenses in the league this week.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars were torched a week ago, but they're not playing the Chargers this week. The Buccaneers' offense has been horrible in recent weeks and don't have anywhere near the potential that the Chargers do.

The Buccaneers' offense is a great one to stream against. There are exceptions, but the Jaguars don't fall into that category.

Aside from their debacle against the Chargers, Jacksonville's defense has been a good unit for most of the season. They are certainly worth a gamble against a turnover-happy Buccaneers team.

Miami Dolphins

Never in my life did I think I would say that you need to stream a defense playing the Eagles' offense, but that's the case here. Really, it's not even close.

I have never seen a football team look less interested than the 2011 Eagles. On offense, you have no idea who's going to play and who's going to be benched. Even those who play are far from good bets to give a max effort.

The Dolphins' defense has been playing well in recent weeks, and even though LeSean McCoy is a bit of a concern, their run defense is solid.

The Eagles are a good offense to go against, and the Dolphins defense is more than capable.
