Week 14 Waiver Wire: Marion Barber and Others to Add

Ryan PhillipsDec 8, 2011

When starting running back Matt Forte went down with a sprained MCL in Week 13, the Chicago Bears turned to Marion Barber to carry the load offensively.

He responded with 44 yards on 14 carries. While that wasn't a stellar performance numbers-wise, Barber did show flashes of his former self and is one guy worth an add in fantasy football this week.

After a whole week preparing for extended action, expect Barber to see even more carries this week. While he will likely share the load with fellow backup Kahlil Bell, the 28-year-old veteran is likely to see the key carries and could be a touchdown vulture as well.

With Caleb Hanie under center, Barber will need to do a lot of work if the Bears hope to reach the playoffs. Chicago will rely heavily on its running game to get things done, and the Minnesota product is almost certain to the be focus of those efforts.

Take advantage of that if you need help at the running back position. Snag him and start him.

The Tennessee Titans have also faced injuries this season and have needed backups to step up. With Kenny Britt out for the year and Nate Washington hampered by an ankle injury, Damian Williams has worked his way up the depth chart at wide receiver.

The second-year USC product has responded by averaging 3.5 catches for 52 yards, with three touchdowns over the last six games.

Williams had four catches for 62 yards in Sunday's win over the Bills and was the first read on the majority of the team's passing calls. Williams has improved a ton this season and is really finding space in opposing secondaries.

He has exceptional hands and runs impeccable routes, so expect his numbers to continue rising.

So far this season, he has 31 catches for 411 yards and five touchdowns. If he's available, pick him up and start him immediately. He should keep blossoming as the season winds down.

Another receiver rising this week is Seattle Seahawks wideout Golden Tate. With Sidney Rice out for the year thanks to concussion problems, Tate has been elevated to the team's No. 1 receiver slot.

He made the most of that opportunity last Thursday night, grabbing four catches for 47 yards and a spectacular touchdown grab against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pete Carroll has been high on Tate all season and hinted that Seattle will continue to feed its young wideout down the stretch of the season. Tate clearly has a lot of talent and now has the opportunity to become a great fantasy addition.

Pick him up and stash him on your bench this week. See how he performs and then decide whether or not to use him.
