WWE Minutiae: Was Ryder Really Overexposed on Raw?

There is a pun among the Internet wrestling community, or IWC, that the minute a wrestler they love hits the main event, they will turn on that wrestler.

Did that happen with Ryder last week on Raw?

As you might recall, Ryder was featured heavily in a series of segments and received two matches. He lost in a good match with Cena and defeated Henry with a bit of help from Cena.

But is it overexposure? The answer is no. Overexposure implies shoving something down the throats of your audience.

Simply put, Ryder is a hot commodity right now. He sells merchandise, has a massive following among fans in general and is a sympathetic character. Up to last Monday, you might make the case he was under utilized simply because he didn't receive much time on TV.

I was doing a search online for last Monday's Raw ratings, there was a string of articles that said "Ryder failed again!" How so? Both his segments gained viewers.

The show fell flat from the get go after the opening segment, which Ryder was not involved with. You cannot pin a ratings drop on a guy who drew viewers back.

The rub Cena gave him last Monday by sacrificing his title opportunity did both men a service. Ryder received an on-air vote of confidence from the biggest name in the WWE, and re-enforced Cena's developing storyline about his self-confidence.

Simply put, Ryder is getting the push of a lifetime right now. He's doing occasional main event matches, is in a high profile feud for the United States Title and has been put over by the likes of Punk and Cena. To not actually use him when he connects with the audience so much is simply wrong.

Ryder is not a piece of film that you can ruin by keeping the shutter open. Simply stated, Ryder is on a wave that was created by him. The WWE would be wrong to not use him as much as is logical and feasible.
