NFL Week 14 Predictions: Projecting the Week's Top QB Performances

Chris TrapassoDec 8, 2011

Finding the reliable fantasy football quarterback hasn't been as hard this season as it's been in years past.

We know Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and outside of the Rams game, Drew Brees will easily give you a 20-point or higher day regardless of their matchup.

Will they turn in the most impressive performances of the weekend?

Now that we're in the postseason in most fantasy leagues, the play of your No. 1 signal-caller has yet to be this critical.

These are the top three fantasy quarterbacks for Week 14's action.

Aaron Rodgers

1 of 3

Remember when I stated "regardless of the matchup"?

Yes, that most directly applied to Aaron Rodgers.

He has the highest QB rating this year by nearly a ridiculous 20 points.

20 points.

Get ready Raiders' fans, your secondary is about to picked apart by the most surgical quarterback int he game today.

Oakland is allowing a respectable 231 yards through the air per game, but they don't have enough covermen to lock down all the pass-catchers Rodgers finds throughout the course of a game.

Then again, no one does.

Cam Newton

2 of 3

Newton was the story last week in the Panthers 38-19 beatdown of the reeling Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He accounted for four total touchdowns (three on the ground) and is now the record holder for most single-season rushing scores by a quarterback.

Because he's shown he can be a deadly passer from the pocket and he can get you those extra points for running touchdowns, Newton is my No. 2 this week.

The Falcons overall have a good defense and the No. 1 overall pick in last April's draft did have three interceptions in the first meeting between these two clubs.

Newton's greatly progressed since then.

He's not taking as many chances and is still racking up the yardage through the air.

This is my underrated "shootout" of the week.

Lots of offense.

Drew Brees

3 of 3

Tom Brady against the Redskins was tempting for the No. 3 spot, but then I realized how amazingly efficient Brees has been and how much he's been throwing the football.

It's like he's back at Purdue.

Brees has thrown for 342, 363 and 322 yards in his last three times on the field and has nine touchdown passes in that stretch.

He's thrown a TD pass in 39 straight games.

The Titans secondary is decent, but have they dealt with a smooth operator like Brees and an athlete like Jimmy Graham this season?

No.
