NBA Trade Rumors: Teams That Can Help New York Knicks Land Chris Paul

Matt ShetlerDec 8, 2011

While all signs point to the New York Knicks being out of the running for any possible Chris Paul trade, the Knicks did receive a bit of good news when the Golden State Warriors said they wouldn't be including Stephen Curry in any type of deal.

The Los Angeles Clippers, another suitor for Paul also said they wouldn't be including the likes of Eric Gordon or DeAndre Jordan in an attempt to acquire the All-Star point guard.

So until Paul is dealt and signs an extension somewhere, the Knicks in essence still remain somewhat in the running.

If the Knicks are going to land Paul, two things have to happen.

First of all, he has to stick to his guns about only signing an extension if he's dealt to New York and secondly, the Knicks must get a third team involved in trade talks.

Here are a few teams that could help the Knicks facilitate a trade for Paul.

Utah Jazz

The Jazz had expressed a desire to trade either one of their current big men in Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap. A quality big man going to New Orleans could make the Knicks offer a little better.

The Hawks could be interested in Paul as well, but they also could stand to get some money off their books and Josh Smith could once again become a good trade chip.

The Pacers are rumored to be a third team involved in a deal with Boston involving Rajon Rondo to the Hornets, but the Knicks could try and facilitate something through them as well.
