TNA Impact Wrestling Preview: A Tag Team Main Event, the Knockouts and More
TNA Wrestling presents a new episode of Impact Wrestling tonight.
Despite the ridiculous amount of backstage segments, last week was a solid show.
As TNA looks to end 2011 strong, they have confirmed three matches and what are sure to be two in-ring segments.
Let’s see what the company has in store for us tonight.
Sting Invites Dixie Carter to the Impact Zone
A few weeks ago, Dixie Carter was the target of an attack by TNA world heavyweight champion Bobby Roode.
Carter was sitting in the crowd when Roode grabbed her and knocked her to the ground. A.J. Styles came to her rescue, but he ended up on the receiving end of a Bobby Roode beatdown as well.
What made things worse was that Styles ended up on top of Dixie as Roode stomped away.
The beating didn’t stop until Sting made his way out.
Last week Sting announced that bad actions would result in bad consequences.
What will be Bobby Roode’s punishment for his actions? Will Dixie Carter have anything to say to him?
Samoa Joe vs. Abyss
After weeks of not appearing on television, both Samoa Joe and Abyss make their returns to Impact Wrestling.
Joe has been gone since his losing effort in a No. 1 contender’s match against Booby Roode. After the match, he told Sting that he would "bring down a reign of terror" until he got what he wanted.
That was over a month ago, and this will be Joe’s first appearance since.
Abyss has been feuding with his former group, Immortal, since around the time of Bound for Glory. He's appeared sparingly, as he battled his main foe from the group Bully Ray, while also dealing with other members from time to time.
Last week, Eric Bischoff told Ray that they needed to get Abyss back. Ray’s plan was to get Scott Steiner to come up with a plan.
Steiner’s plan was to deliver two women to Abyss because a freak would love some “freaks.”
Tonight Abyss returns, but not to battle Immortal. He may not even respond to their “gift.”
No, tonight the Monster returns to battle the Samoan Submission Machine.
Who will come out on top in this match?
James Storm Returns to Confront Kurt Angle
It was quite the moment when James Storm won the TNA World Championship. We got to see a TNA original win the title instead of a former WWE superstar.
That moment was ruined by another TNA original’s heel turn. Bobby Roode smashed a beer bottle over Storm’s head to take the title away from him.
Before his rematch the following week, someone took Storm out backstage and gave him a concussion.
As Storm searched for his assailant, Kurt Angle attacked him and revealed that he was behind the attack.
Even though Storm has appeared after the assault, TNA is making a big deal out of this. It may have something to do with Storm vowing to kick Angle’s ass.
What will happen as James Storm and Kurt Angle go face-to-face?
Mickie James vs. Madison Rayne
The Knockouts division has been on a downward spiral since Karen Jarrett took control of it. She has made the Knockouts wrestle in their lingerie and wash a car in bikinis.
Appealing to the eyes of the male audience, but to wrestling fans who know the Knockouts can wrestle, it’s insulting.
All is not lost, though, as last week we got a great street fight between Mickie James and ODB. Mickie is the best hope that the Knockouts have, and Karen knows it.
Mickie has a shot at Gail Kim and her Knockouts Championship at Final Resolution, and Karen doesn’t want her to make it to the match.
Her first plan was ODB, but that failed. Tonight Karen throws her lackey, Madison Rayne, at her.
Can Madison take out Mickie James for Karen, or will the No. 1 contender continue to defy the odds?
Booby Roode and Jeff Jarrett vs. A.J. Styles and Jeff Hardy
Ever since Booby Roode won the TNA World Championship, he has been defying the new man in charge, Sting.
He's stood at the announcer booth when he was supposed to be wrestling, attacked the likes of A.J. Styles and Jeff Hardy, and has even put his hands on TNA President Dixie Carter.
Since Roode’s heel turn, Styles has been there to try to stop his new evil ways. Styles had the chance to take the title off of Roode at Turning Point, but he failed.
Sting has given him one more chance at Final Resolution, in a 30-minute iron-man match.
Jeff Jarrett has been on Jeff Hardy’s case since his return. Jarrett doesn’t want him in TNA, but Hardy feels he deserves one final chance.
At Turning Point, Hardy defeated Jarrett three times, but at Final Resolution, Jarrett will get the chance to get rid of Hardy for good.
The two will compete in a steel cage match: if Jarrett wins, then Hardy is gone, but if Hardy wins then he gets a title shot.
Tonight we'll see these two feuds going at it in tag-team action. Who will gain the momentum heading into Final Resolution?
Tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling shows a lot of promise. As long as TNA cuts back on the number of backstage segments, I think this will be a great show.
Tune in tonight to see what happens!
